Benny's American Burger Takapuna — Restaurant in Devonport-Takapuna

Customer service wasn't great, foh didn’t greet us or seem happy to see us, also couldn’t answer questions about the food -might have been lack of english. Kitchen staff seemed very friendly however, they brought out our food and they had a smile on their face. Food tasted really nice, chips were great, only complaint is that the burger was quite pink though which I wasn’t too fond of, I’m aware that some people like it this way but personally I think it should’ve been cooked well-done, tasted nice despite that. Foh came to meal check after the meals were finished and plates stacked, I informed her about the burgers being a bit pink and how just for future, to maybe cook it a bit more however overall food was good, she just said “oh well you should’ve told me before you finished” in a bit of a defensive tone. We left shortly after that and plates were never cleared despite them being stacked for a while before we left. Came here for a late lunch. There was no one around to seat us, so we just found a table ourselves. The food was actually quite good. We especially enjoyed the poutine and the wings. However, the service could definitely use improvement.

When the wings were served, they were just placed on the table without much care, and they came in a basket with nothing underneath, which felt a bit off. We asked for water and were given one glass and a pitcher for a group of three. When we requested two more glasses, one of them was unfortunately dirty. We didn’t bother asking for a replacement because it seemed like the staff weren’t very engaged and didn’t really want to be there.

Overall, we enjoyed the food, but the service needs more attention to detail and customer care to match the quality...

We had their crispy spicy chicken burgers and the kids had beef burgers and thick shakes. Everything was brilliant. These are THE best chicken burgers we've had in NZ, I don't know how they make these chicken patties, but damn, winning. The beef burgers were really big and the patties had a proper crust and was still juicy. The thick shakes were actual thick shakes, not flavoured milk like most places in NZ.
