Manna Sushi & Don — Restaurant in Devonport-Takapuna

We got the donburi of the day and a plate of sushi. The sushi was self-serve which was great for me as I take long to decide. The donburi was beautifully served and the more intricate sushi were made with so much thought and effect. Each piece truly was a work of art and tasted just as good as it looks. The grilled salmon sushi options were my personal favourites. The staff are also very lovely and attentive. I accidentally left my bag in the store and rushed back not even one minute later and couldn’t see my bag. They had noticed and had it stored behind the counter which I was sooooooo grateful for. Honourable mention: their plates. They had these cute bunnies at the bottom....

I must say I was not expecting this, the donbury was so good!!! I was drawn in by the good looking sushi, and a great deal ($13 for a bowl of donburi) got me into trying this for lunch. I had the chicken Katsu and everything about it was so right! The chicken was crispy outside but tender inside. The sauce was delicious. The rice was cooked perfectly and the salad was perfectly balanced. It was a decent size bowl and it was all prepared to order, you can tell the difference! I used to go to this place all of the time when i lived in Takapuna, it was my go-to Sushi place and OMG the sushi is SO GOOD! The sushi is a bit on the pricier end for some pieces but i believe they are 100% worth it! I would always get a variety of simple pieces (salmon, chicken, e.t.c) and more complex ones and they all tasted really really good and I always felt fulfilled after. They also do great Donburi. I personally never had it but when i went with my ex he had it and only said good things about the taste, the portion seize was really good also.
