Vino Restaurant & Wine Bar — Restaurant in Hibiscus and Bays

I have never written a review of any kind regarding any restaurant but I’m afraid to say that tonight is my debut as I experienced the worst meal and customer service in all my years of dining.

It wasn't hard to figure out who the owner must be as he was sitting outside the front of the restaurant on his phone enjoying a beer before coming into the restaurant to humiliate what could only be a new member of staff (possibly their first night, I’m not sure) for making a mistake and choosing to embarrass the poor boy in front of customers.

Myself and my partner attempted to eat our pasta dishes (I ordered the carbonara and my partner the spaghetti bolognese) let’s just say it was an expensive spoonful of pasta before heading to McDonald’s for dinner instead. ($90 dinner straight into the bin- me who hates wasting food and money, but the food was not good at all and the hostile environment did not help).

Then it came to paying our bill, when we experienced first hand this poor waiter being humiliated yet again for the second time in possibly the 45-60mins we endured this restaurant for. The young boy was in the middle of taking an order when the member of staff who was sorting out our bill interrupted the boy and called him over to explain his mistake (personally I think this was extremely unprofessional to do so in front of us as customers and the table who was in the middle of placing their food order with the waiter) my heart went out to the young boy. Unfortunately, I was that gobsmacked by the whole experience I was left speechless and regret not having spoken up for the young boy as well as the poor service and food we experienced but here I am making sure that that sort of behaviour does not go unnoticed.

As you will have guessed by now, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone and expect to see this restaurant feature on a future episode of Gordon Ramsey’s...

What a beautiful little restuarant. It's a real gem.

Here are a few small things that could be seen. The fake flowers and plastic table cloths are....ummmm. Although I can see some thought even went into those.

The wall next to our table was not clean and some places like the inside bathroom door could use some paint but then again, it does give a rustic charm in a way.

Now here are all the best bits and there are many. The decor was lovely, it has an Italian, Greek feel to it with a hint of rustic 😉

The service was prompt professional and friendly. Being in the hospitality industry for a lengthy time in my past and being a perfectionist. The lady who served us was perfect. Asked all the right questions at the right time, was always attentive and ready to act on whatever was needed.

The food was very Italian styled and so rich, so beautifully made. Honestly, it was very good. I had my eyes on the gluten-free brownie for dessert but the food was perfectly filling. I will come back for it next time.

The sparkling non-alcoholic Rose was so refreshing and I was even given some ice to add to it as needed. I loved that. I also had to try the lemon, lime & bitters which can be a car crush but was made perfectly balanced. Perfection.

So to sum it all up, five...

A friend and I went here during the week. We got there an hour or so before closing. The food took about 45 mins to come out for only a few people in the store. I ordered the vegetarian cannelloni which I found nice, however my friend ordered the carbonara which had a an unusual flavour. She asked to get the mushrooms out and for some reason they couldn't do this. The food was extremely hot when it came out which is fine, but we wanted to wait for it to cool down. However at this point since we had waited quite a while for the food to arrive there was only 15 minutes until they closed, so we felt rushed to eat it which didn't make it very pleasant. Then when we came to pay, I realised they upped their prices $10 more than last time as I could see on their menu at the counter the prices were $24 opposed to the $34 we payed. It's fine for people who are willing to pay this, but based on our experiences on this night we don't think it was worth it and wouldn't come back again. I was personally disappointed because I had come here before and had a much different experience than this one. - Not trying to be nasty, just genuinely...
