Orewa Beach Fish & Chips — Local services in Hibiscus and Bays

Disappointing! I’ve never experienced anything like this from the many takeaway places I’ve visited across the country. The young girl came to the counter asking if I was ordering food (not sure what else I would be ordering?) then proceeded to say they weren’t taking any orders because their orders were backed up and closing was not until over an hour away. Many customers before me were also turned away too. Ruined what was suppose to be a nice evening out at Orewa beach - you may need to consider whether the business should be open on a Monday (being the only fish n chip shop open in Orewa on a Monday - the girls words) if you can’t cope with the busyness of running a business rather than disappointing customers!

Also I’ve gone through the many cheeky and unprofessional responses you post to peoples 1 star reviews - should be interesting to see how you respond to this or you may just take this as professional criticism,...

Great place and a great location. Whenever I come out here for work, try to come here whenever I can. Confused as to why some people give low stars, I've never had an issue here.

Snapper 9.3/10 Great consistency when it comes to their fillets of snapper. Also, the batter is light and golden. Chips 8.4/10 I like the seasoning they put on the chips, and the serving is a decent amount. I'd like more of the seasoning for the chips. Scallop bites 7.3/10 They were ok. The bites have a nice crunch, and we're good to have as a side to the combo. If you're ever in orewa, check this shop out, and enjoy it...

Fake scallops from the freezer, not good enough for the price you charge. Also why can't you do a gluten free battered sausage? Girl says you batter the sausages then when we ask if it can be gluten free it's "no they come battered". Way too expensive for freezer to fryer stuff with below average service. I understand you can't always buy fresh scallops but why not get frozen ones instead of the fake ones that are made of fish? Yes I do put a fair few 1 star reviews but only if they are deserved.
