Bungalo Cafe — Restaurant in Kaipātiki

This is a tough one. We went there twice. First time during the week, in the middle of the day. Food DEVINE. Got the Portobello mushrooms and a bungalo breakfast. Amazing. 1 kid in tow.

Second time, on the weekend. 3 kids in tow. Mid morning. Ordered the Portobello mushrooms and the Vege fritas. Unfortunately some issues.

We waited 45 minutes for the food to arrive. We ordered 2 smoothies and they came out 15 minutes apart. The mushroom dish had hardly any mushies. So super disappointing. The kids meals at 8.5 dollars consisted of three small tenders. Advertised as nuggets. And a bit of shaved carrot!

Loved it the first time. The second time made me rethink. Unfortunate, as we were so excited to go the second time.

It was the first time coming here and I won't be returning. It was lovely to have outdoor seating on the lawn. The Ginger Latte was yummy and a nice alternative to coffee. The Power Pack was cooked well, but the dish was not worth the price and I was overcharged for this item. Please update the printed menu if you change the prices. Without permission, I was sneakily charged a tip which I do not support the practice of in the NZ context. I wouldn't have known about being overcharged or the involuntary tip without requesting the receipt, which I unfortunately didn't check until the following day - too late to challenge. I find such practices dishonest and actively choose not to support businesses behaving in this manner, so I will not be returning or...

Not good, table water room temperature, glasses straight out of dishwasher and hot. Ordered and paid for large flat white, got a small flat white and when I queried it was asked if I would like them to make a large for me, um that's what I ordered. Took ages to get it, nearly finished my food by the time I got the coffee and the coffee cup and saucer remnants of dried food stuck to them. Five people in my group, didn't check any of the other glasses as to hot or not, another ordered a large flat white, got small but was not offered the size he paid for. Wanted to put two tables together for our group, was told they prefer not to do that then saw other people doing it and the staff said nothing, perhaps I shouldn't have been polite and asked.
