We decided tonight is Indian.. !! 😋😁 I went to order from our go to restaurant and they weren't open, so we thought we'd give this particular Mr India a go. They have an extensive menu to suit any palate and Indian food craving you may have. They have a beautiful premises and inside is a cosy, darkly coloured, spacious, variety of seating from family, to a romantic date night for 2, type of restaurant. The service is excellent, polite and professional. The order time is very quick, from ordering your food, to it arriving steaming hot at our table. When ordering for takeaway the girl that usually answers the phone is very friendly, efficient and gets the order correct which is so good to know, that your phone order will actually be what you asked for... Parking is relatively easy to find. Restaurant has accessible entrance and insides, for disabled folk who feel like Indian too 😋🙃 We ordered starters mainly and just 1 curry. The poppadoms are crispy and flavoured with fenugreek as expected. Crispy goodness to dip in the various dips we bought, 1 note about dips, the poppadoms at other Indian restaurants always give 1 or 2 dips or chutneys to go with poppadoms Mr India don't give any complimentary dips, chutneys etc you have to just go through the options and order. The lamb chops were heavenly seasoned for us, as we can't stand spicy food due to stomach issues. I'm sure if a patron asked for NZ hot or Indian hot they would oblige. 1 downside was the lamb was quite chewy as opposed to having a roasted or slow cooked in the tandoor soft and "can cut with a fork" quality. The chicken tikka tandoori were absolutely beautiful, large, well flavoured could cut with my fork. The Samosas are HUGE!! They obviously overcooked our ones however, as the outer crust used to seal everything in, was rock hard, break a tooth material. Inside was nicely spiced, not too many at all, so if you like heavy, rich and spicy what we ordered isn't for you.. We finished off all the starters, barely able to stuff anymore food into ourselves but the butter chicken smelt divine!! It was perfectly balanced with not too much cream to it like other butter chickens around. A rich, more tomato flavours, than heavy cream, buttery sauce that is excellent when used as a dip with our butter naan. Will definitely be coming back for more, as it's...
Read moreOrdered first time food was pathetic, called them and advise the same staff was very rude. I was thinking of writing a feedback but didn't do that as I thought it could one of those bad days. Second time ordered mint sauce and onion salad. Paid for mint sauce but was not there. Onion salad is only the raw chopped onions no masala nothing . Today was the worst . Called them especially to explain if you could make whetmeal chapati then I will place the order and the guy said we only do wheatmeal chapatis. I walked for a kilometre to take my order as I don't drive. When came back and started having food, chapatis made from refined flour maida which I am allergic. This is how they do the good customer service. Won't recommend to anyone. We ended up eating here as this is the only Indian restaurant near to our work place. But this was the last time. Poor food and they people even don't care for...
Read moreAmazing Indian food and so conveniently located for guests of Poenamo Hotel as it's right next door. Bonus points for being open on a Monday night. The Butter Chicken was thick and creamy and satisfying, with that lovely buttery sweetness that indicates a chef who is a master of spice blending. The Mr India special was the highlight, lamb in a tomato based sauce, wow! Could not have asked for anything more with this, so satisfying, generous chunks of lamb, again a wonderfully blended spiced sauce that I ordered 'just as it comes', so I'd probably say it was mild-medium in its spiciness. It was like a Rogan Josh but omg way more delicious. The garlic naan and the cheese garlic naan were also delicious and...
