St Honores Bakery — Restaurant in Kaipātiki

I only go there about 4 or 5 times a month, but even then the food and service stay the same, or even improve, they remember the faces of their customers, and always love a good chat. I would be surprised if any other bakery could top their products because they are just the greatest. For first timers I recommend the number 1 package for $9.50, the fries are always fresh and dry, seasoned great and crunchy, the chicken is top tier in crunch, juiciness and texture, it's better than the chicken at KFC. The pies OH MAH LAWD THE PIES, the pies are really good in texture and tenderness in the meat, and the gravy is perfectly seasoned, and the pastry is perfectly baked. The donuts are great and soft, and you can occasionally find a good crunch even in the plain cream donuts. In the sandwiches, the only ones I've tried were the chicken katsu with the lettuce, shredded carrots, mayo and some sort of spicy sauce, and I have to say, it is nice cold, and warm, though the chicken is a little soggy, however it does not effect the taste of the sandwich. I had a steak and cheese pie and a citrus slice. Both were passable but not great. The pie had a relatively sweet taste, more gravy than steak, and the pastry was a little chewy. Slice was quite sweet and not overly citrusy. Definitely had better bakery food but in a pinch this will suffice. If I'm in the area again I'd try elsewhere first.
