Scotch Wine Bar & Wine Shop — Restaurant in Marlborough

Avoid at all costs. Hate to write this review but it has to be said.

Arrived at Scotch Bar with much excitement only to leave disappointed and frankly feeling ripped off.

My partner and I both paid 85 dollars for the bites and three course menu and were expected to share one small slice of salmon between us and nibble on the smallest piece of venison I have seen in a while.

For 85 dollars each I would have at least expected to receive a slice of salmon each rather then the slither I had that evening and shared plates that dont run out after one scoop.

In other restaurants where you pay for a set menu in a group every member of the group receives a dish to themselves rather having to share one dish between each other.

Evidently Scotch Bar is doing something different and frankly its ridiculous as we both paid full price only to get effectively one person...

We had our 1st Wedding Anniversary dinner here. And it was a night to remember!!! Tried snails for the first time and it was exceptionally delicious. All of their food we tried was made with love and care and packed with amazing flavours. Definitely worth the price. The service staff were super friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable about the food on the menu and the wine on their list. The head chef even came out with our profiterole dessert. He had a lovely sense of humour and the best tasting dessert we had so far. Our experience started with a high and ended on a high. So highly recommend...

Hands down the best gnocchi I have ever had. Caramelised on the outside but melt away center. Scotch bar was recommended to me by a lovely woman from dog point wines so I gave it a try. Could not have been happier with the food and the superb staff.

Followed the gnocchi with honeyed Brie which was also amazing and may have been the focus of this review if I had not already had my tiny north island mind blown by that gnocchi. I’ve tried making gnocchi and it ended up having the texture of the same balls of which I would have happily have given one of for this meal!...
