Teresa Cocktail Bar — Restaurant in Napier

After reading an article about Napier, we decided to try the "speakeasy" they talked about:Teresa. The entrance is through the deli "Harvest", we missed the first time. It's a small, cosy cocktail bar with an interesting list of cocktails and experienced bartenders. The first cocktail they recommended disappointed me a little bit, not because of the taste but because there was a lot of foam on top of it and no woman like foam on their nose while trying to drink a cocktail. To my surprise the bartender Josh saw that I wasn't very happy and he suggested to make me a cocktail I like. I said margarita. I'm a cocktail person and that's a very plain cocktail but it makes it easier to judge someone 's abilities. (Margarita wasn't in their cocktail list but they are capable of doing a lot of improvisations. Good ones ) The cocktail was great. What he created for my friend was perfect too. We asked for a restaurant recommendation, he suggested we eat there but we wanted a proper dinner after walking the whole day. He suggested "central fire station". People said that it is difficult to get a reservation but around 8 pm on a Saturday it was easy. So his recommendation was very helpful as well. He said that he never watched the movie "Cocktail" (Tom Cruise), I found this funny. If you're a solo traveller, this place is perfect because you can sit at the bar, watch them and chat. I suggest that before ordering something just by reading the description, talk to the bartenders. And if you have a cocktail you like, even if it's not on the list they'd probably make it for you. $21...

Teresa Cocktail Bar was an absolute pleasure to experience. The atmosphere was inviting and fun to be in, with amazing service from the employees who are clearly passionate and love what they do. The cocktails and food were of an incredible quality. You could tell a lot of thought and creativity went into the food, it was fresh and absolutely phenomenal to eat; pairing beautifully with the drinks.

Andrea's explanation of the cocktail menu was comprehensive and very incitful. His well thought out vision of incoperating the futurism movement into his work were clear to see. It added a whole new experience I had never seen before. Every expectation I had was well beyond met.

I definitely recommend this beautiful establishment to anyone looking for not just a drink, but obviously an experience too. I will definitely be coming back again. Thank you for the excellent work, Hawkes Bay is lucky...

Absolutely fantastic.

The beautiful interior delivers an theatric atmosphere. Sara provided brilliant service, sending us to Italy with fresh bread and high quality cold cuts. While behind the bar, Andrea and Dillan are creating finest cocktails using a wide range of Italian Vermouths and Bitters. Not only are they delicious and complex but creatively presented. Me and my partner had a good crack at the menu and not one had been less than outstanding.
