Firstly, The food was great. I had the big breakfast and it was hot and tasty, and the portion size was generous which I was happy about after waiting nearly an hour for it to arrive. The rest of the experience overshadowed the quality of the food unfortunately. The music was excessively loud - the staff were happy to crank up their favourite song despite it obviously making conversation difficult for everyone in the cafe. There was no table service what so ever - not even to clear the empty water bottles or coffee cups we had accumulated which I ended up taking up to the counter after about 40 minutes. We were advised of a 25 minute wait for food when we arrived at 2pm, I ordered with 3 others about 2.15. The food did not start arriving till 3.09! I counted about 11 other people in the cafe by the time we got our food so it was basically empty. When I asked the waitress at 3pm how far off the food was there was no apology or explanation. In terms of the food, the chefs are doing a great job (I'm pretty sure the chef even delivered our meals?) but the experience with the wait staff was a...

You know those places that aren’t the first to pop into your head… but somehow, you always end up there anyway? That’s Beannies for us, and every single time, it hits the spot.

Their menu runs till 2:30 pm and is packed with delicious options, plus a cabinet full of treats that make it impossible to choose just one. The range of gluten-free and dairy-free goodies is fabulous.

We rolled in around 2 pm on a Sunday and scored an incredible gluten-free blueberry lemon curd cake (honestly, one of the best I’ve had) and a chicken, lettuce, avocado, and tomato sandwich that was fresh, tasty, and satisfying. Anything I highly recommend the Beannie Club (which is what I’ve had the last three times).

The almond lattes? Always spot on. And the service, genuinely 100% smiles all round.

Beannie is definitely one of the most reliable and delicious. A local gem that deserves to be top of...

Called in here for a coffee and wasn't disappointed.

What I REALLY loved about this place was the way the ladies greeted their customers ❤

It was so evident that the ladies behind the counter viewed their patrons as more than just faceless punters paying for a hot drink.

How they spoke to their customers and how their customers spoke to the ladies showed a level of trust and obvious care that I've not seen in such a long time and have rarely seen displayed outside of NZ.

They way everyone interacted with each other was uplifting and made me so pleased I stopped in and got to briefly glimps their very special world 😊

The coffee was good too 😁 Just maybe a tad cooler but once it had cooled down it was a very good flat white.

I would so love to visit again in the future when...

Busy, quirky hidden gem on Jackson St. This was my first visit and I'd definitely go back there again. The counter food options looked amazing, but I had the french toast with bacon and banana, and my partner had the bubble and squeak. My french toast was huge and very yummy, but I would've preferred my banana to be pan-fried to caramelise it which sweetens it nicely. My partner really liked his dish. The coffees were great and the service was really quick. The toilet and lino floor could, however, do with an upgrade as I could literally tilt the whole toilet.
