Machete Coffee — Restaurant in North Island

Used to be one of my favourite places for a hot drink, mainly due to the atmosphere and the service. Unfortunately, the last couple of times I’ve visited left much to be desired. In my most recent visit, the lady at the counter got my order wrong -which is completely human. However, when the order arrived with normal milk - when I had mentioned a couple of times that I’d like almond milk - a staff member came back to say that I hadn't ordered almond milk. Upon clarification, the staff member returned and I waited for another 20 minutes or so only to get the wrong drink altogether. Again, you could say it was a trying day for the staff. However, the lady looked annoyed and shook her head when I mentioned I’d ordered a hot chocolate and went back to the counter. I waited for another 5 minutes with no apology or update on my order. I walked up to the counter only to be ignored by all three staff members. I called out to the lady who said it’s coming and was quite dismissive. Mistakes happen, however, I was made to feel like a nuisance for wanting the drink I had paid for. A little kindness and communication...

5 stars for the show and 3 stars for the food and drink.

The enchilada did not give the appearance of being put together recently but was edible. I can recommend their shrubs but they could tone down on the vinegar. The best part though was the Basil Fawlty impersonation given by the owner/manager. I was overcharged for what I had and got a refund but not without a show reminiscent of the restaurant at Fawlty Towers. There was a Manuel on the till who had some difficulty sorting things out. Along came Basil to the rescue with 21st century abuse even to the extent of following me out of the café to swear at me. Never mind, but somebody else who was in their 70s and less resilient than I might have been a bit shaken. A 5 star show as was the original.

Actually there was no ranting except from you. The ingredients might have been put together at the time but prepared and bought some time ago. Three stars are appropriate for your food. Anyway your reply is revealing enough and when customers are abused "a la Fawlty" your potential future customers need to be warned of the...

I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for Machete Coffee Shop. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing and inviting, making it a fantastic spot for everyone. The staff is exceptionally friendly, and I’m always impressed by their excellent service.

Their menu offers a variety of meals that cater to all dietary requirements, and I love that they keep it fresh and seasonal with exciting new options. The design of the shop captures a lovely New York vibe that's unique to Wellington, making each visit a special experience.

However, I must address a recent review that was posted under my name. Unfortunately, my account was hacked, and that review was entirely untrue. I sincerely apologize for any confusion it may have caused. Machete Coffee Shop is a place I truly admire, and I can assure you that my experiences there have been nothing but positive.
