CM is an informal foodcourt wedged between two buildings in Willis Street and comprise small stalls serving different cuisines. Some of these specialise in traditional cuisines eg. M'sian, Vietnamese, while others are Fusion or Mix-n-Match. And then there are the "Self-Design" stalls where you get to customise your dish every step of the way, and the "Fast Food" joints which serve spring rolls, dumplings, etc.
You won't find refined tableware here or fine-dining for that matter. Instead expect a casual, warehouse, no-frills ambience where disposable utensils are the norm. These plastic, picnic containers are quite small by cafe standards, but the serving size is adequate if you're a small eater.
The pricing is similar to other eateries. The advantage here is you have a wider variety of cuisine choices under one roof so it's ideal if you're dining as a group. And the location is central and handy for commuters (close to bus-stops). CM is open 7 days from 10.30 am to 9 pm and can also be accessed from the back alley via Victoria Street

Read moreMy love for Capital Market only grows as time passes.
Now with only several stalls holding down the fort, Capital Market isn't as popular as it used to be. I now consider it a hidden gem that people need to rediscover.
Even though there are only a few stalls left, they all do such exceptional food that you really can't go wrong with what yoyu choose.
My two favourite places here are Noodle Man, who specialise in Chinese noodle soups and Lemongrass Kitchen, one of the cheapest and heartiest Vietnamese places in all of Wellington.
Noodle Man was my consistent favourite place to go when I needed some hot soup for under $18. You can get their cheapest bowl of noodles that for around $11 which is vegetarian friendly.
Lemongrass Kitchen is one of the best for value Vietnamese places you can find in Wellington. You can get a decently sized bowl of Pho for only $14 !! Their dumplings were amazing that I nearly went back to order more (I did not as I was so full from my meal but, the temptation was there!)
Please support Capital Market. They just need redecorating and maybe some music so it doesn't feel so quiet. I would hate to see this...
Read moreThis was one of the places my husband and I shortlisted for our visit to Wellington. We reached the food court on the eve of 26th Dec and spotted the Indian shop first.. the food looked watery and not fresh at all. The salads looked wilted. Not having many options we ordered a kebab deal for two off the menu and headed to the Malaysian food shop for some Nancy Gorang. Upon receiving the two plates we were highly disappointed. The kebabs were full of wilted lettuce and tasteless chicken .. Not even like your average roadside kebab shops. The Malaysian dish was below average .. No seasoning or taste but mostly just friend rice and veges in soy sauce . Left most of the food and ate some in reluctance as we were starving . Left the place worried about our gut health ....
