Sal's Authentic NY Pizza Mount Maunganui — Restaurant in North Island

Sals pizza is delicious, and the chicken wings in original are to die for! Delicious tasty spicy but not blow your head off spicy. Just right. You get ranch and blue cheese dressing to dip wings in and pizza crust after, of course! The extra side portion of grated parmesan and marinara sauce is yum but unnecessary. Overall it's delicious, staff were friendly and inviting. Atmosphere inside was dead. We were only ones sitting in waiting for pizza on a Wednesday night. I'd prefer to see music videos instead of catfish on the screen and do incentives to get people to dine in. A few people ordered online for pick-ups, but the restaurant itself was empty. I was impressed with the qualify of taste and ingredients, and the staff were super nice and helpful. I thought $72 was a lot for 6 slices of pizza two drinks and one portion of chicken wings. I also wanted a gluten free option but there was none. I ate the pizza anyway it was really good but then suffered afterwards because with age our gluten intolerance goes up. That's how much I love pizza 🍕 So overall I'd give gluten free options, put music videos on screen and do cheap pizza night incentives to get people to dine in to create ambiance...

not normally type of person to leave a bad review but unfortunately sals mount maunganui has disappointed my partner and I too many times now. the customer service is absolutely shocking. there have been many different occasions where we have stood at till for over 5 minutes without been served and the workers will just walk past, looking at us, making us feel uncomfortable and sometimes have to ask to be served. the place is pretty much been run by teenagers who seem to have little to no experience/training as shown in quality of food. the pizza’s and sides are always made to an extremely low quality and not worth money. the sals sauce always comes watery( rare occasion we get nice one ) , the garlic knots are really doughy and lack garlic flavour. The pepperoni pizza we ordered there was only a small circle of pepperoni in the middle of the pizza and the rest was just pizza dough For the money my partner and I have continued to spend here we are so bummed about the food and service being...

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE AT ALL YOU COULD GET SICK,...!! went in tonight to order a slice of pepperoni the girl who was cleaning with a blue cloth which clearly had black grease and dirt on it and a spray bottle ,without washing her hands after the man who had taken my order straight after touching dough to the the mouse and keyboard and touching money asked her to make mine and another order then went back to making his pizza with no gloves or washing his hands in between. The girl then put her clothes and spray down and proceeded to make the orders, opening and closing a fridge twice to grab slices of pepepperoni out with her hands she had not washed to put on my slice of pizza I actually felt sick I then asked to speak to him and said I'd like my money back please I'm not willing to eat the order I just made and watched be prepared and stated why he tried to then offer me free products aswell as my refund .....
