My paramour and I ordered from here a few nights ago. Plenty of options to do this: by phone, online ordering (Delivereasy, uber eats), but we decided to take a drive and order in person. Easy to locate, a well-lit food truck in the same alley as The Cow and other interesting dining establishments. I chose a karaage chicken style burger that I can’t find on the menu, it had bacon and cheese and some typa fused sauce - fabulous. I ate the whole thing. Bacon was immaculate. My man got the Old Blue Eyes and said something a man would say about a good feed, “yeah, nice” and then itched his beard. Told they were out of kumara fries, got one side of shoestrings instead. They were beauties. I was keen on shoestrings (probably because I always overcook them) but these guys just chefs kiss. Came with a little of classic kiwi T-sauce as well. Cheers boys. Service and greeting from staff was… hmm, efficient. I might have taken a coveted star each from atmosphere and service for the lack of toothy grins and high pitched “hiya guys!”, but IN ALL FAIRNESS guys, my bf looks very grumpy naturally and I don’t like making eye contact. The order was quoted to take about 15 minutes so we took a stroll to Night and Day and came back, more on that later…
Overall a lovely experience, enjoyed that dinner very much, thank...

The burger featured a perfectly seared patty, which had a delightful char and juicy interior. The combination of flavors was impressive, with smoky barbecue sauce complementing the savory meat, while crispy onion rings added a satisfying crunch.
The fresh toppings—crisp bacon and tangy pickles—were generously layered, ensuring each bite was full of texture and taste. The bun was soft yet sturdy enough to hold everything together, making it easy to enjoy without a messy spill.
The atmosphere at Ya Ma's is laid-back and welcoming, perfect for a casual meal. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The they did mix up my order with an other burger but they were quick with the correction making a fresh burger straight away.
Overall, the Oklahoma Smash is a standout choice for burger lovers looking for bold flavors and quality ingredients. I highly recommend Ya Ma's for anyone visiting Wanaka; it's a must-try for a satisfying and delicious...
Read moreLocated down an alley by a popular bar, they obviously cater to people who have been drinking - probably quite heavily cos these glowing reviews have got to be exaggerated... the high prices do not reflect the small portion sizes. The burgers are decent, although my husband's reaction was "they taste like Wendy's burgers back home in the US but with less meat and 5 times the price" 😆 Wendys burgers are tasty, but certainly not worth $21++ each. We went again and gave it another chance, but the poutin was mediocre, made with what tasted like frozen fries and packet gravy, and the $37 burger is insanely priced for what it is. We especially couldn't get over the small portions and we've tried pretty much every other food truck in town more than once. The wings were good but again - tiny, blue cheese was on point, but $4 for an Itty bitty container is straight up penny pinching. So we've learned our lesson, there are bigger better burgers elsewhere,...
