I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant in my opinion. I ordered the fried pork don kasu curry rice, and clearly some cuts of the don kasu was served raw in side (clearly pink and cold when touched). Any sane people would know how dangerous it is to consume RAW pork, so I asked the lady who was in charge (I assume), and she immediately declined and said NO, without even looking at it carefully, followed by: I will ask the kitchen for you though. Also her attitude was very ignorant, but I kept quiet as she responded quickly to the issue. After few minutes, she walked out of the kitchen and told me “The curry was fine, but I will serve you another curry”. Then I asked her whether she admits the pork (don kasu) was indeed raw or not, she responded “No, it was only cooked less (?), but it was fine”. I’m not entirely sure what that really meant, but her attitude and ignorance really upsets me. The food was okay but I wouldn’t come back anymore, nor recommend the restaurant to...
Read moreMy wife and I had been looking for somewhere to dine on our wedding anniversary, and Shinaburo came highly recommended, and quite rightly too! We came early and there was plenty of seating available, but the restaurant started to fill out quickly. We first ordered our drinks, and they were served to us quickly. We had a korean peach schnapps - it was yummy and left a nice glow! We ordered a couple of Entrees - Yum Yum Dak (chicken nibbles). Goon Mandu (pork dumplings) and some pickled vegetables. All very nice and well presented. I then ordered the Champong, and my goodness, what an experience! A delicious broth with delectable pieces of pork and fresh seafood, all sitting atop thick noodles. I highly recommend this dish if you can handle a little heat. My wife ordered a seafood platter, and it looked and smelled good. Good food, good experience....
Read moreJust a bad example of Korean restaurant in a tourist destination. Not authentic whatsoever and foods served in this restaurant are marinated with msgs. Plus they are over priced for the ingredients used.
See the reviews very carefully and you will notice all the low reviews come from people who “know” what Korean foods are like.
I brought my relatives from Hong Kong, Manila, and Australia and got really disappointed by the quality of services.

I will make sure Korean community in Auckland and Christchurch know about...
