Red Star Burger Bar — Restaurant in South Island

Walked in, looked at the menu picked out what I was going to order , was looking forward to it . Was already in there for about 3 minutes, waited at the counter to place my order for another 3 minutes while 4 dudes joked around out the back and didn’t even notice me and 1 other staff member was sitting at a table obliviously having a break. I could of called out to them but i thought I’d just go elsewhere as they didn’t look keen to serve me,

Edit after your response - Weird that you try defend every bad review . And also weird you tried to find me on camera footage . This makes me not want to give you another chance, how do you even know I’m the same customer you watched on the footage ? , I gave an honest review - I walked in picked something from the menu , waited to get served , didn’t get acknowledged and walked out and got a decent burger from firebird - who were busier and also handled their customers better , that’s what happened, sorry I didn’t yell out to the staff . One of the burgers I've ever had, and I've had a lot living in Melbourne. Grilled chicken was moist, beef was well cooked and flavourful, and the relish and BBQ sauces with the grilled pineapple added the perfect finishing touch.

If I had one critique, it would be the bread, which was akin to the good ol' 'corner shop' burger--it was just a little too soft (perhaps not toasted, though I did get takeaway). If they tried something like a white sour dough or a wholemeal (which are a bit firmer) and toasted them really well on both sides, it would add another depth of flavour and texture to the burger.

Burger aside, the cajun chips were amazing, 10/10. They were thick cut and crispy, even after getting takeaway! The aoili they pair it with is well balanced, as some garlic aiolis can be quite overpowering. Overall, one of the best foods in Wanaka for sure, and surely one of the best...

We came in tonight (Easter Monday) after finding three other places sold out - a public holiday and hospo Monday no less so fair enough! The Red Star team was friendly, efficient, and the lady on the front was super bubbly and loving the atmosphere! Awesome start. We had to wait awhile but timing given was pretty much spot on, and when the food came out it was DELICIOUS. I had the All Day and hubby had the Classic Mac with extra pickles, these were really decently sized burgers! Not too big, and definitely not too small. We also got the Cajun fries - chunky, crispy, amazing. We were sadly so full from our burgers that we just couldn't finish our very decent large size portion of chips. We will be back next time we're in Wānaka! Such a great spot and probably replacing my old Wānaka fave... 😂 The only thing we regret was not getting any pictures at all to show you all how great...
