Columbus Coffee — Restaurant in Palmerston North

One of the worst café experiences I’ve had.

First off, the chips were a complete rip-off at $17–$18. They were dry, floury, and bland—no seasoning, no effort, and not even a dipping sauce, which should be standard at that price point. It felt like they just threw frozen fries in an oven and called it a day.

My partner’s frappé was even worse. The glass it came in had baked-on grime both inside and outside—honestly disgusting. You could see the residue from the previous drink, and it clearly contaminated the new one. How hard is it to wash a cup properly?

To top it off, the tables were filthy. No one came around to wipe them down after customers left. We had to clear our own space just to sit. It was honestly gross.

Between the overpriced, poorly prepared food, the dirty drinks, and the lack of cleanliness, I don’t see any reason to go back. Columbus Coffee seriously needs to...

DISGRACEFUL. Came in today to order breakfast, I wanted just bacon and sausages, with my $8 coffee. I’ve ordered this numerous times at other stores across the country.

Today when ordering, the female worker had no idea what I asked, and had to question another female worker to see if it was possible. This female seemed more senior and asked the most rudest male barrister, who straight away without hesitation said NO. Replying it only comes with eggs. I questioned this with the staff and got nothing, so ended up just getting a coffee.

This is not ok, it’s advertised on your menu, I was going pay $13, but you refused my service?

Whilst drinking my coffee I noticed the environment of the workplace didn’t look good, with the male who was clearly a manger overpower staff and straight out rude.

You can’t advertise a product and decline a customer...

My partner came in and ordered a latte. When the order was ready the order was called out as a flat white numerous times. My partner went up and asked if it was a latte and the server said you ordered a flat white. My partner then proceeded to say sorry I actually ordered a latte and the server the said "there's not much differnce between a flat white and a latte" and then opened the cup and poured more milk into it very aggressively to where it spilled out the side. My partner felt embarrassed and uncomfortable as if she had done something wrong. Definitely will not be...
