Tianze Dumpling House — Restaurant in Puketāpapa

We ordered sliced beef W/ black pepper, braised pork belly in brown rice. I'm really quite disappointed and let down as I chose to order from here as I had selected the meatballs hotpot dish for myself 😔 which was included in the total at the time of placing my order. The fact that it also had to travel quite far away.. so with the wait time and how much you have to pay for delivery you want a fairly decent amount of food to cater to you. x2 dishes for X5 people 😞 I'm not sure what went wrong here whether the uber app is at fault I had assumed my dish was unavailable but received not notification of this, only realization was upon receiving x2 dishes only (thinking the uber driver had left it/the restaurant failed to give it), not on. We were left unsatisfied tonight, the braised pork belly dish I enjoyed too bad for the price quantity is minimal leaving us unfulfilled for the price rice...

Went here for the first time last night. It was awesome! Delicious variety of hot dishes- different flavours to the standard run - of - the - mill Chinese options. Pork and fennel dumplings - perfect! Sizzling cumin lamb - twice cooked sweet and sour pork- stuffed eggplant- chilli squid... each dish a winner. Plentiful rice and a great pot of tea. Old school BYO option available. We were a euro/Chinese family of 8 and booked the table in advance- service was adequate and staff welcoming. Interior is authentically rustic and basic - please NO paint job as a previous reviewer suggests- change nothing!!!! The location - at a busy intersection could have some parking challenges but it is what it is. Have already booked to return in...

The place is tidy and the shop took 2 shop lots. Heard their food was good and so just had to try. Had 4 dishes that included one steam dumpling. The dishes were a little salty as the balance between the amount of sauces used might be off. The flavours were lacking as one just can't figure out the taste! Perhaps overload of sauces, chilli, oil and possible even MSG. It was rather disappointing. Further, although we were the only customer, the wait time dishes between dishes need to improve as they came out quite irregularly. We even had to chase for our dumplings as it took almost 35mins after the first dish! Saving grace is the dumpling is fairly decent, otherwise it would be just one star. I would not be revisiting this shop...
