I recently visited Mithaiwala Indian Restaurant at Sandringham with my family, and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. We ordered a special thali, hoping for a delightful family meal, but what we encountered was far from satisfactory.
The major issue we faced was with the unprofessional behavior of the staff. Despite our attempts to seek assistance, we were met with a complete lack of customer service. We decided to order 1kg of snacks, only to be disappointed when we received an excess quantity of snacks and an unexpected extra charge on our bill.
Attempting to address this discrepancy, I called a staff member for assistance. Shockingly, our request was blatantly ignored, leaving us frustrated and bewildered. It was only when we resorted to a more visible method, a gentle pinch, that the staff member finally acknowledged our presence.
To add insult to injury, instead of addressing the issue professionally, the staff member chose to argue with us regarding the pinch incident. This kind of behavior is not only unbecoming of a restaurant but is outright disrespectful to customers who were expecting a pleasant dining experience.
Mithaiwala Indian Restaurant failed to meet even the basic standards of customer service and professionalism. I would strongly advise potential patrons to think twice before choosing this establishment for their dining experience. Our family outing turned into a regrettable and uncomfortable encounter, and we won't be returning to Mithaiwala...
Read moreWell, unlike other places - I have some raving reviews about this place. For a start, really reasonable with price, and amazing in taste. Staff is friendly and welcoming too.
Best part: Nowhere in NZ you will get Samosa at $1 (takeaway) and with free chutney (which believe me is a real big incentive). Plus, samosa tastes incredibly tasty, if you are lucky, see if you can score fresh out of the frypan. I mean its very good, compared to many other places. Also, they get sold out very fast. (Also hope its price doesn't go up, but I think even then it will be very popular. And once price and chutney together are their USP).
Dal and Onion Kachori is amazing too. Samosa chaat equally good.
Sweets: Some of the most authentic Indian sweets (from a variety of regional sweet delicacies). Once again, if you are lucky, try its white rasogollah - fresh out of pan. It is soft (not spongy like rubber), and melts in your taste buds, and reminds you of the raw/real taste of rasogollah/s of Kolkata or Rajasthan/MP in India. Milk cake and Mysore mithai are special as well. If you are taking jalebi from here, try not less than at least 400gm - because you wouldn't probably stop once you start. Papdi Chaat can be better with more masala and spice, bit dryer not dipped completely in sweet yoghurt. Chhole Bhature is competitve.
Overall, one if the best, reasonable and most authentic Indian sweets/snack shops in...
Read moreThis Review is for that person that served us from last 2 times. First time when we came to order 400 gms Jalebi and He straight away said we donot offer for 100gms you need to minimum order 250 gms. Me and husband was like, we said 400 gms what are you talking about? No apology nothing he packed 400 gms and asked us to pay. We were in hurry so did not ask his name and left the store. This morning we went to buy samosa's and paneer pakoda and the same guy was present and we asked for raosted samosa's if possible. He did not even care to listen and just packed as he wanted and when I asked to add 2nd row paneer pakoda he started being aggressive without any reason saying you do not ask like that and I will not pack as what you say. My husband said this is not the way to talk, she is just asking to put the front one's. He started arguing and my husband asked to let it go as he has not got listening skills other than unnecessary attitude. And when I asked his name, he aggresively said Deepak and questioned us for what you need my name? We were like what is he? This is not the customer service at all. Just because of the front service people like him, Mithaiwala surely loose their loyal customer. We have been customers of Mithaiwala from past 7 years and do not feel like going their now as arrogant and illiterate people working in...
