The gelato was below average, not sure it deserves to be called gelato. The staff accidentally gave me chocolate brownie instead of cookies and cream which is fine, mistakes happen. But there was not a single piece of brownie in it, it was basically just chocolate ice cream.
The raspberry white chocolate cheesecake was better than the brownie but still average at best, it did at least seem more generous with the cheesecake pieces but could've used more raspberry.
But what compelled me to leave a 1 star review was the "warm brownie" Itt was barely a brownie and more like a pile of unbaked batter. I'm honestly confused as to how this was accomplished as it stayed solid on the outside but the inside was pure goo.
I had a burger from fergbutcher the day before and it was made well with high quality ingredients so I'm confused as to how a place under the same ownership could be so much lower in quality. Highly...
Read moreThese days we often skip expensive desserts at a restaurant, in favour of a decent gelato or ice cream, if there is one nearby. Such is the case tonight, as we head into Mrs Ferg for another treat (we’d already sampled their wares at their Beach Road shop earlier this week). We strike a quiet patch, which is rare for any of the Ferg operations from what we have witnessed this past week. It allows us time to chat with the staff, who are really friendly and happy to offer up the tasting spoons of new flavours. I also strike up a conversation with the part Italian, part Argentinian ice cream maker, which is quite fascinating as we discuss volumes over the summer months - an astounding amount of ice cream manufacturing!! Try the Dulce de Leche Caramel & Chocolate, it really is great. I end up going for the Black Forest and Mint Chocolate, and they are both divine. Well recommended for lots of...
Read moreI bought the Acai Energy and Acai Berry, hot chocolate, tea, and coffee on different occasions from my visit to Mrs Ferg Gelateria, Queenstown last June. Thankfully, the line was significantly shorter compared to the famously long queue at Fergburger, making the wait quite manageable. Given its reputation as a tourist hotspot, a bit of a queue was expected.
One highlight was the Belgian hot chocolate. It was impressively rich and delicious. Watching the staff scoop it out from a large pot was a delightful sight. However, since it was cold outside, the hot beverages cooled down quickly. Despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed all the drinks I tried.
My only regret was not trying the gelato because the weather is cold. The selection of gelatos was wide and unique, featuring flavours that were truly intriguing. I look forward to returning to give...
