Aroy Thai Eatery - Commerce Street — Restaurant in Waitematā

It was a rainy day so my friends and I decided to have some delicious soul food at Aroy.

So we ordered our meals. I ordered a satay chicken dish. They brought 3 different curries that definitely werent mine and then took my number away. Then they bought satay chicken walked away and had to chase them across the restaurant then the waitress said this was for someone else and my satay chicken was coming. Then we ate together and enjoyed our meal. However they bought us some chicken satay skewers and apologised for bringing the wrong meal 3 times. Then they left.

A minute later as I was holding the skewer and had dipped it in the sauce and breathed on it, the waitress dashed across the room and reached out and said to sorry sorry this is meant for downstairs. I had to sadly put down this pre dunked apology skewer on the ate. I was left feeling very embarrassed. Establishment is spacious, clean and airy. Featured below: curry puffs, prawn spring rolls, roti with peanut sauce, chicken cashew nuts, yellow curry with chicken and pad Thai with tofu (minus the bean sprouts). I've had the Tom Yum fried rice with tofu and I have to say I think this is a new favourite. The Tom Yum flavour is quite good and with a squeeze of lemon - ooh party on the palate. Had the crispy chicken and rice and wasn't a fan. It was quite dry, very oily and bland.

Recently ordered the Massaman beef curry to takeaway and it was pretty terrible. It was smelly in the sense that the curry was beyond it's batch date. The potatoes had that texture when they have been defrosted from the freezer. Potatoes should never be frozen. Can't believe I paid $20.90c for an expired curry. Won't be ordering from...
