KFC Fort Street — Restaurant in Waitematā

KFC is one of my favorite foods, but I never expected that my recent experience at this branch would leave me with something even more precious than delicious food. A few days ago, I dined at this restaurant with my brother and sister. During the meal, my sister went to the restroom and accidentally left her iPhone there. It wasn’t until we were about to leave after finishing our meal that she realized her phone was missing. She rushed back to the restroom, but the phone was already gone. She was extremely upset, as it was a birthday gift from her husband.

I immediately called her phone, and to my surprise, a friendly voice answered, asking if we had left the phone in the restroom and if we were still at the restaurant. Shortly after, we recovered the phone. It turned out that a staff member—a lovely girl named Mathilde—had found the phone in the restroom and promptly kept it safe, waiting for the owner to claim it.

We are incredibly grateful to Mathilde for her kind act. Her thoughtfulness brought great warmth to my brother and sister, who were visiting New Zealand for the first time, and allowed them to experience the beauty of this country. It also made me, as a New Zealand resident, feel immensely proud.

I went here last night with two friends after midnight. We ordered at the counter. I waited 20-30 mins at the counter for our food and they just plonked the box and can on the counter without a tray or bag. When I got to the table where my friends were waiting, the security guard was there telling us that we weren't allowed to sit and eat, that they were closing and we had to leave, that all orders are takeaway only. The restaurant was filled with people eating at their tables and no-one had told us when we ordered. There are still people ordering. It's 1:20am and the place is supposed to close at 2.

I went back to get a refund (I'm not going to sit on the ground outside to eat) and the guy just says "but you were told when you ordered". No we weren't. He grabs the food, puts it straight in the bin that he has ready next to him while eyeballing me and hands me the money. It felt like he had a routine to belittle people who want a refund as much as possible.

Experience from start of walking into KFC, place was dirty, kiosk ordering screens did not have what I wanted, had to go to counter to order, staff are unprofessional starting from the person who took my order and the person who packed my burger and the person who handed me my order over. I had to double check my order and I noticed my burger was not a zinger tower instead I was giving an original flavored chicken and not the spicy zinger, I told the lady behind the counter and she replied with "how do you know" I know because years ago I use to work for you when I was a teenager and I can actually tell the difference to this day. So I walked away and checked my order again was missing regular chips and the lady came out from the counter side with an attitude, like I dont believe you! Which really annoyed me at the end I was missing regular fries which she gave me and she didnt look too happy about it even after i said thank you. Took my food outside and only to notice there was no refreshing napkins or spoon to eat my gravy with by then it was too late to go back. This is the worst service I received after spending $30.
