Shocking service and extremely rude staff (the older man and the Asian staff members were ok). Went there to cheer for Team NZ in America's Cup two days in a row and each time spent between 30-40 dollars but because of the crap service decided not to go there again.
Ordered two breakfast, but only mine turned up and my friend had to sit around waiting. After waiting for over 30 mins when I went to ask the young blonde, instead of apology all I got was loads of attitude and I was told lot of people were waiting as well. But in reality most (if not all) of the people who ordered food after us got there's served much earlier.
Finally I had to cancel the order since the race was over and my friend had to get back to work. It was very embarrassing.
There was definitely a cultural bias there as we were the only two Indian guys who got treated differently.
This could have been a totally different experience if they had simply apologized for the delay, as they were visibly quite busy. Instead their attitude was make the customer look wrong and them right. Well, is that customers problem how they run their kitchen that they cannot serve customers on time??
They really need to change their attitude towards customers of different ethnic background. Auckland is a multicultural city and becoming even more so. Being located in the CBD (next to a backpacker) foreigners particularly Asians will become their major revenue source. So they better get it right and best to keep their biased attitude at home. Otherwise its only a matter of time they will not be that busy anymore.
The sad part is I am not even a foreigner, I have been living in New Zealand for almost 15 years and like most new Zealanders very patient and make noise about crappy service only after it has hit the bottom. But if the attitude towards a local is like that...I wonder how rudely they will behave with foreigners who may not be that subtle and patient as us New Zealanders and expect a lot more...
Read moreOne of the worst experience in the CBD. We ordered 2 pints of beer and one of their garlicky prawns from the menu. Food and drinks were served well on time and the food was lovely. But with regards to the service we experienced wasn't the kind of image this place has portrayed. We were half done with our food and wanted to go for a smoke outside and was advised by this young gentleman working over there that we can leave our drinks and food on the table and can go out for a smoke. To our surprise when we came back to our table we realised that our half finished prawns were removed without our notice. We enquired about the same to the same gentleman who served us and instead of explaining to us the reason behind it we were being told that it was our mistake that we left the food on the table. He further added that there was no food left on our plate and his words were- ' you spent half an hour for a smoke so I don't know where your food is gone'. After a minute of arguement about it he was being utterly rude and said ' I will get your one prawn back to your table'. It's not a matter of one prawn but it's wholly about the attitude you portray infront of your guests. So yes we finally got our 'one prawn' back at our table by a young lady but that wasn't what we wanted. If the waiter has made a mistake he should have genuinely accepted it as his mistake and we are human and everyone can make a mistake. But being rude and arrogant while being in a hospitality business is completely unacceptable. But I would like to mention this young lady who approached us later and apologised to this particular waiter's behaviour. She is a gem to the place. I may be wrong to say this but we were treated unfairly...
Read moreI went here with my friend on a Friday (3rd June) very disappointing to say the service was the worst I’ve ever experienced. This lady who looked like she was in charge (duty manager I assume) had a big attitude walking around but wouldn’t even bother to provide service. I got up and went to the bar to place the order and she was still standing right in front of me but pretending I never existed and talking to another staff. Secondly I ask the same lady if I can get a takeaway container and she says she’ll put it to a container herself and left. She was coming back and sliding the takeaway box through the table as she walked pass. Felt like she was throwing it in my face.. I’m pretty sure she was the duty manager or whoever was in charge at that time (this was around 6.30-7). Is this how all customers get treated? This is hospitality guys. If you don’t know or can’t do hospitality then don’t work in hospitality.. these places need staff that knows how to be humble, pleasant and polite and not full of attitude... sad to see this as I myself was a hospitality worker. If you can’t be nice to customers just don’t work in hospitality!!! We all have bad days or I don’t know if she was been racist.. but I’m never coming back there.. we are not coming and paying money to see the attitude of the staff. It’s like we are eating with their money!! Very bad experience and really upset about how I...
