Really disappointed with my overall experience here today. The place seems really nice, staff at the bottom seemed friendly so I was expecting the same upstairs, but it's almost like two different vibes. After being seated and given our menus, we weren't serviced for quite a while, with the workers barely even walking around our side for us to raise our hand to get their attention that we were ready to order. The cutlery that we were given were very poorly washed, I noticed that the knife and fork that I was given was still really oily, you can see it since it's a metal utensil the oil/grease that hasn't been washed off properly and sticks in your finger. The food took a really long time to come, compared to other fried chicken places the wait time was almost double what for example Chimac would take. Even considering that the place was busy, the service was far too slow for sadly mediocre food as well. We ordered 3 different fried chickens, and two fries. When the chicken arrived, the chicken at the top were already luke-warm which was unusual, since isn't this supposed be fresh fried chicken? The chicken at the bottom was hot, which pretty much indicates that it was done and ready but they had been delaying or whatever to bring it to our table. Even more dissapointing, the chicken that we received was so small, the amount of chicken meat was comparable to a wing which was a separate item on the menu. The ratio was almost 60/40 bone to actual chicken meat. The fries also came a bit later after the chicken had arrived which makes zero sense? How does chicken arrive before the fries when it takes longer to fry chicken compared to fries. Even then, the fries were just warm? How does that even happen, it's like the food is not even fresh. After receiving the fries, I enquired about the raddish which was supposed to come with the fried chicken, to which the waitress said they were sold out? How does that even happen. Then I also saw that other tables had received gloves and a bucket to put bones in, to which he replied "sauce?" for the fries which they didn't even give us in the first place. After that he came back with just one sauce, even though we had ordered two fries, okay whatever it's enough but still so so poor. They didn't even ask about it when we ordered the fries in the first place. Flavour wise of the chicken, it was incredibly incredibly sad. The oil that was being used was so old and burnt that it would overpower the actual taste of the chicken. Good fried chicken usually has a nice golden brown crispy skin, but no, ours was dark which indicated the already old oil. Even if oil was to be changed once every week, if the oil had gotten to that sort of condition, it should be changed right away. Old burnt out oil you can literally smell as well, and the taste is very distinct in the food you fry. Overall, extremely poor and would not be coming back again. I would say they have a lot of potential, but if by the end of the week the quality drops this much (assuming we were just unlucky) I don't have high hopes for this place at all...
Read moreNewly opened Korean Fried Chicken restaurant located on Queen Street serving delicious fried chicken, but only the fried chicken was good. The rest of the experience led to a less than satisfying visit. Long wait times for food, cold food served, and minimal service due to staffing levels.
The Secret Sauce chicken is highly recommended. The sauce flavour was the perfect mix of little spice and sweetness. The only downside was that the chicken was served cold, despite waiting 30mins for the food to come out.
The Golden Fried chicken is also to be recommended, it had a slight buttery taste along with a crunchy outer, which was a pleasure to have. This chicken was served hot, that is that it was being served exactly at the same time as the other foods.
The biggest downfall was the fries, i do NOT recommend this at all. The fries were served soggy and cold. Also they costed $11 for what seemed like half a scoop (you can see the photos for size reference to the can of coke). I believe hot chips are a staple item at a fried chicken place, but this was a huge disappointment. Other established chicken places give generous portions of fries, but not this place.
You enter to the dining area via the stairs, and there was one staff that wasn't in uniform (whom seemed to be a manager) advised us to sit on an already setup table, which was clearly unclean. Instead of himself cleaning the table, he grabbed a busy waiting staff to clean the table. The server returned and guided us to another table.
The server was friendly and guided us through the menu. However you could clearly see that the serving staff were extremely under staffed. As this place also serve alcohol, unfortunately our next door table became quite intoxicated and they were having a fight whilst drunk between the couple. Yet due to the staff shortage, this was not seen by staff, and it meant they kept finishing their drinks and the argument continued throughout our stay.
The dining area was modern and a pleasant environment to be in, however the toliets were quite a mess.
It may come across as you read this, why things were not raised at the time. The staff were extremely busy so it was not possible to grab a staff after taking a bite to say the food was cold. Also on payment, there was no question about how it was (despite being a new establishment) and was more faced by the struggle of the server to try find the correct bill for the table.
I probably won't be back again, as I see fried chicken to be served hot and also a food that has fast turn around (not a 30min wait food). If you want to try something new, it will be worth a try for the fried chicken if you have plenty of time available...
Read moreI ordered twice at this restaurant I ordered a 3 chicken pieces combo ($18) after 8pm for takeaway I ordered a chicken bowl ($11) with a drink($4) after 1pm for dine in
Here is my experience as an autistic.
Ordering - quite confusing They have two kiosk near the entrance, since the space on the ground floor is small, unavoidably you might have to make eye contact with staff. Don’t worry, they will say hi to you first, you greet them back then move on to order at the kiosk. The kiosk will need your name and print a receipt with an order number on it. No beeping disk, no number stand. It’s starbucks system. What confuses me is the first time I ordered here I waited for them calling my name and they bring my food to my table. So next time I think maybe that’s their system, they will remember you and bring food to you. No, it’s starbucks system.
Picking your seat - quite confusing As an autistic, your best seat is the ground floor window seat. What confuses me is this restaurant has two floors. You might think yeah maybe this place is like KFC. No, the second floor is a bar after 4pm. You can eat there, you can’t sit there without your food. And you can only dine in the specific area. Stuff will guide you.
Food Chicken bowl really worth the money($11) , they have free water on the first floor. Well, I think that’s for bar, not for $11 chicken bowl customers, bring your own water. Chicken pieces combo, portion is meh, better order 3 pieces for dinner. Flavour is good. I ordered this one for takeaway, the problem is the chicken box is arranged in a way you can’t close it. It’s winter, your meal gets cold fast.
Overall I will give this restaurant 4 stars since they have $11 chicken bowl.
🤓👌
Update: Just now I come to a sudden realisation. They can’t understand why I want to check upstairs because yeah why an autistic are serious about picking a seat right? plus upstair is a bar which makes me suspicious. Maybe that’s why the staff avoid answering my question with yes or no directly. Me: Can I sit here after I get my food? Staff: instead of say yes or no they rephrase the info Me: ask same question again. Staff: rephrase, never say yes or no, avoiding responsibility is the...
