This is my third time at Jin Jen, the first two times was a very good experience however this time I am so disappointed in them!! I expected a lot more than this.
I went to have a haircut on Sunday, usually I go to one of the guy. However, this time I got a girl which I couldn't even find her on their website so I am not sure if she is a hairdresser or not.
My hair was very long...I have asked to cut about 5 - 7 cm off due to the damage at the ends. However, my hair turns out to be half chopped. I have also asked for a face framing layers, the end of my hair are so bluntly cut that it looks like a staircase around my face. My hair being short and bluntly cut I have gotten over it as there is not much I can do about it anymore because it has already been cut.... however, it was the communication and the treatment that the girl has acted towards me is what I really want to give the review on.
I have washed my hair the morning after and i have seen the hair more better as the end was curled so I couldn't see it. I noticed the ends of my hair was so bluntly cut and very even, which I had to cut the unevenness myself....
So we rang them to let them know about the situation, they have asked me to come back to retouch. I have tried asking for the hairdresser that have dealt with before. However, they said it is not possible I have to return back to the same hairdresser that has cut my hair previously which is odd because if you think about it why would you want to go back to the same hairdresser that has butchered your hair?? so I decided to go anyway because the hair is very very very bad!
I went back the following day got the same hairdresser, she corrected the layers by thinning the ends so it doesn't look so blunt anymore which I am grateful off. However, her attitude/treatment towards me she just laughed at me because I have cut the uneven ends of my hair which she didn't cut them properly!!?? Excuse me? this wouldn't happened if you were able to communicate to your client and cut the hair properly. Later she have asked me if I have washed my hair after the haircut (in my head I am thinking am I not supposed to wash my hair ever after a haircut??) I said Yes I have washed my hair. Then she proceed to say the reasons that caused the uneven ends of my hair is because I have washed my hair and "my roots has moved" this is the most ridiculous comments/feedbacks I have given from a "hairdresser/salon". I googled if this is true or not and apparently there is nothing on it, and how is my root gonna move during the haircut?
Like honestly, if you cannot cut the style that I want just let the client know or if there is no hairdresser available also let the client know or don't open the time slot for that time.
I have given the chance for them to correct my hair however they decided to treat me and give attitude like this to me. My hair will grow back I have gotten over it however the attitude is just...
Read moreThis was my second time coming here, and after a decent experience the first time, I decided to give it another go. Unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing. Yuki, the senior stylist was the one who took care of my hair. I showed her a reference photo, explained exactly what I wanted, and she seemed to be on the same page but as soon as she started cutting, she chopped a big chunk of my side hair off. I asked for just a little side hair, and the reference I showed her didn’t look anything like what she ended up doing. I immediately asked if the length would be long enough to tuck behind my ear like I had asked, and she said it would be, and it was, but only sticking out and looking messy. Now, there’s this noticeable gap between my hair behind my ears and the side, and it just doesn’t flow together at all. It’s embarrassing to even think this was done by a professional. After she finished, I looked at the result, and not only did it not look like the reference photo, but my hair was just all over the place. I asked her to trim a bit more off the back, but I didn’t say anything after that because I knew it was just gonna get worse and worse. I was pretty anxious the whole time, watching it look worse. I left the shop feeling skeptical and when I got home and washed my hair, it was even more uneven and messy.
My honest opinion is that if you call yourself a senior stylist, you should have the technique and skills to give clients the look they want. Or if you don’t, maybe study into it and adapt to the recent skills and technique. I know the younger stylists here are definitely more skilled and know more about sophisticated hair styles but I can’t say the same about the others. If you’re looking for something specific, especially with short hair, I’d say think twice and make sure you choose your stylist carefully. From my experience, Yuki didn’t seem to have the skill to handle my hair type or give the look I wanted. Now, I’m stuck with a chopped up haircut that I’ll have to wait months for it...
Read moreI cannot believe what happened earlier this evening. I went to Nillo Hairdressing on 28 Lorne Street to get highlights done. It was to cost $180, so I expected a decent job for the price I was paying. The hairdresser assured me my hair would look the same way I described it to her. I have long hair and in the past it has typically taken 1-2 hours for the entire process. However, this colouring by Nillo Hairdressing was completed in a short 20 minutes. It was not the colour I asked for, it was uneven and they forgot to do the entire left side of my head. It had all gone wrong, and the staff even agreed that it did not look as good as it should have, however the salon owner would not let me leave the salon without paying full price. When I said I was highly dissatisfied with the result and wanted it fixed, she took out a brush and mixing bowl and told me I wasn't allowed to leave unless she could dye my hair BLACK. When I refused, the salon manager tried to physically restrain me while hurling verbal abuse. At this point, I feared for my safety and had to call the police. After more than two hours of being held against my will at the salon, the police had to intervene. A police report was filed and they had to escort me out of the salon to get out safely, I still had to pay $130 just to end the entire ordeal faster as it was getting very late. I am incredibly upset with the result of my hair and even more so at this confrontation. Consumers beware. Do...
