LET ME JUST START OF BY SAYING THAT THIS GYM IS AMAZING. LITERALLY A-AMAZING. did you know where the A-amazing came from? Robert Rydhon Moinuts, famous sayer of the super saiyaan century of 1300 BC. He is my inspiration by the way. By the way you know they call me the ADONIS CREED but hey hey hey its all cause of CITY FITNESS the gym, the myth, the legend, one and only CITY FITNESS. thats right C-I-T-Y-F-I-TN-E-S-S. It also has a volcano in the middle of the gym. Do you know that the volcano is a rupture in the crust of a planetary-mass object, such as Earth, that allows hot lava, volcanic ash, and gases to escape from a magma chamber below the surface.
Earth's volcanoes occur because its crust is broken into 17 major, rigid tectonic plates that float on a hotter, softer layer in its mantle.[1] Therefore, on Earth, volcanoes are generally found where tectonic plates are diverging or converging, and most are found underwater. For example, a mid-oceanic ridge, such as the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, has volcanoes caused by divergent tectonic plates whereas the Pacific Ring of Fire has volcanoes caused by convergent tectonic plates. Volcanoes can also form where there is stretching and thinning of the crust's plates, e.g., in the East African Rift and the Wells Gray-Clearwater volcanic field and Rio Grande Rift in North America. This type of volcanism falls under the umbrella of "plate hypothesis" volcanism.[2] Volcanism away from plate boundaries has also been explained as mantle plumes. These so-called "hotspots", for example Hawaii, are postulated to arise from upwelling diapirs with magma from the core–mantle boundary, 3,000 km deep in the Earth. Volcanoes are usually not created where two tectonic plates slide past one another.
Erupting volcanoes can pose many hazards, not only in the immediate vicinity of the eruption. One such hazard is that volcanic ash can be a threat to aircraft, in particular those with jet engines where ash particles can be melted by the high operating temperature; the melted particles then adhere to the turbine blades and alter their shape, disrupting the operation of the turbine. Large eruptions can affect temperature as ash and droplets of sulfuric acid obscure the sun and cool the Earth's lower atmosphere (or troposphere); however, they also absorb heat radiated from the Earth, thereby warming the upper atmosphere (or stratosphere). Historically, volcanic winters have caused...
Read moregreat gym but watch out for their T&C. I joined their gym last year Nov 1 year. i was expecting automatic payment for cityfitness to stop some time last month however it didn't. i was still keep paying for my membership for 3 more weeks. i rang in to branch and they said that "your membership will automatically converted to casual membership and you will still be paying for the membership" "there is T&C when you first signed contract it says that member must give 4 weeks notice to opt out and there is nothing they can do to help me with the extra payment that has been already made". things that i was not happy with were CItyfitness does not send notification (headup) email for their customers when their membership is about to expire. Cityfitness also does not send a copy of contract of T&C into your email after when you sign up the contract.
But customers (from big companies like cityfitness) expect to receive an email notification once their membership is about to expire.
after speaking with staff from branch initially, she suggested for me to speak to their CS from head office. CS lady from head office just kept on telling me that there is T&C you have agreed and is no point arguing like 10 times. Reason for cityfitness to not send us notification is because of having too many members according to her. (I even asked if they are not doing such thing in a hope for making extra money from their customer.) and i was still talking to explain my situation but she just bang her phone and hung up...
I rang the branch again and their manager told me there really is nothing they can do to help. For now my cancellation notice is lodged and i still have to pay for the membership until its processed.
Please be aware of the T&C because cityfitness is not willing and going to help you at all even if you dont get a copy of contract or T&C into your email after signing up and you are still not getting head up for membership expiry via...
Read moreI hate going there because it's the closest to my university and one of the most affordable gyms. The biggest issue is the hygiene in the men's bathroom, which is absolutely horrible; you can always smell the stench, and I've never experienced it being clean no matter when I go. When you walk past three or four staircases, there's a disgusting smell coming from them, and I have to hold my breath.
Sometimes the machines are taken, but that’s fine because it’s normal for City Fitness. However, what I really don’t like is that some machines, such as the standing calf raise and leg extension, have hard cushions that hurt my bones, making it difficult to lift.
I have no problems with working out, but I hate going there because of the poor hygiene and not being able to do leg day due to the hard cushions on certain machines
Update: 7 months after I reviewed it
I still keep going to this gym because I don’t have any other affordable options. I noticed the restroom became cleaner a few weeks after CityFitness responded to my comment. However, a few months later, it reverted back to its original state, and it’s still unpleasant to use. It’s extremely crowded, and many of the machines are constantly occupied. I’m not sure if it’s worse than before, but it just being CityFitness.
I strongly encourage you to avoid the CityFitness on Queen Street. Instead, go to the one on K Road because it's much better: less crowded, cleaner, has colder water, and offers an overall better experience. The only downside is that it’s a bit harder...
