Hi Daily Bread,
I will skip all the niceties in this review since your Britomart branch failed to provide that today.
I went to have coffee and pastries with my partner at your Britomart branch. Shruti, the lady on the till who took our order (2 ham and cheese croissants, triple shot soy extra hot flatwhite in a takeaway cup and an orange juice), was lovely although she didn’t specify on the docket that I wanted my coffee in a takeaway cup.
When the staff brought our orders to the table, the coffee was in a have here cup and so I asked if it should be in a takeaway and he took it back by the coffee machine and from afar I saw that he just tipped it to a takeaway cup making the coffee cold and the cup 3/4 full - is that really your standard? I wasn’t happy with what I saw, that’s why I decided to go the the counter and ask the barista to remake and explain my order. I saw the manager on duty asked him what was going on and he just said, “No nothing it’s fine”.
I decided to wait there instead of having another one of your staff running around because of that simple request and I was literally day dreaming while waiting for coffee and your barista, JOHN, raised the jug and the soy milk in front of me and said, “Jug (lifting the jug), soy milk (lifitng the soy milk carton)” and I replied “Sorry?” and he goes “Well you are staring at me” and I said “I wasn’t staring at you I was literally just standing” and HE INSISTED that I was. I told him there is no need for him to be patronizing and that I wouldn’t even be there if he did it right the first time. Again, he didn’t take accountability or sense of ownership to what happened instead he said that the docket says have here and to which I reply “Blame the lady at the counter not me”.
I spoke to the manager and learned that he is the head barista of Daily Bread. With that attitude of treating a paying customer like that? With that ego of not letting the manager on duty handle the issue? It would’ve been avoided if he had told his manager what was happening, that was his chance to recover but instead he chose to raise the jug and milk carton to my face for the reason that I was staring at him and even if I was, would I be the first customer who would wait and watch the barista work considering that it has an open counter lay out? Even if I was “staring” at him, is it acceptable to do that to a customer?
I would let it pass but there were so many things that are not acceptable from a customer’s perspective. To add to this, we wanted our ham and cheese croissant toasted and the inside was still cold. I hope all your branches will be the same as the one in Federal St. There are only two people manning that place but they are always efficient and their standards are high when it comes to customer service.
Lastly, consider sending John the Barista to a customer service course. He definitely need to change how to deal with customers, especially if he’s priding himself as the HEAD BARISTA of Daily Bread. Surely you don’t want that as a brand...
Read moreI am from Melbourne and I recently visited Daily Bread - Britomart, Auckland. The food was great but unfortunately my experience was ruined by the behavior of one of the staff members. I came in with my peers so we have a large number of people, there were not enough seats so i took some extra seats from the entrance where the extra seats were placed. I had no idea i was sitting on 2 stools as because that's how i picked them up as it was. when i sat on the stool, this rude staff came up to me (he was wearing a red cap and is covered with sleeves tattoos and on his face too) He came up to me and said "mate if you can sit properly like a normal person and not stack the stools" I got up and apologized saying "I am sorry, i didn't know i was sitting on 2 stools instead of 1" and he argued "you knew man, you know exactly what you're doing" I was having a wonderful time until he came up all aggressive on me.
As a customer, I believe everyone deserves to be treated with basic courtesy, and this interaction was far from acceptable. I left the venue feeling disappointed and disrespected, which is not what anyone should experience when supporting a business.
I hope management takes this feedback seriously and provides training for their staff on customer service and respectful communication. Dailey Bread has a reputation for good food / great atmosphere / quality products, but poor staff behavior like this will drive loyal...
Read moreWell Well Well. I decided to give daily bread another shot. I say another shot because the first time I went to a Daily Bread I asked if they had any cinnamon buns. The lady said "let me check the box". I'm sorry? The box? I thought I walked into daily bread not daily delivery. Nonetheless I tried the cinnamon bun and wowie it had the texture of a memory foam mattress topper. Probably because it wasn't baked on site right? Right? Wrong, you guessed it. I ordered the redemption cinnamon bun right from the place it was baked. This time it had a little icing on top. I bite into this thing and it hit me like nostalgia, that same king size thermo regulating bambillo mattress topper was back... never again will I trust daily bread with making a bread product. 1/5 take the sponge back to bob.
Anyway, I was waiting in line and a group were talking behind me, "they are known for this, I don't know why but they are". Guess I'm getting that then. It was a blueberry elcair of sorts. I say of sorts because they baked this choux pastry with a hair dryer or something. It wasn't puffed at all. Tie this to my feet, put me in the pond and yell witch, these things were bricks. The baker tried to fill them with the same gusto as squeezing a tube of toothpaste against the wall. Nothing went in, just smeared it on the bottom. At least the lil cream on top was piped all waves like. Awesome. 1/5 will try all 10 locked doors at the...
