Very poor experience. Would definitely NOT recommend Dr Rudi’s.
A few weeks back we (6 of us) ate at Dr Rudi’s and we were assured the chef would cater for my daughter who is anaphylactic to dairy, eggs, shellfish and nuts. In fact, we had carried her food as we usually do when we go out but the staff insisted that she could not eat her own food that we had brought with us. After a lot of discussion and assurances that the chefs were well equipped and skilled in catering for people with allergies and anaphylaxis and we were promised that there was a separate area for food prep to avoid cross contamination we decided to give it a go.
Unfortunately the worst happened. We left Dr Rudi’s at around 9pm and at 9:20 my daughter had a full anaphylactic reaction and had to be rushed to emergency at Auckland Hospital. She collapsed with the pain in her tummy, and started vomiting, her face was swollen, her eczema flared up considerably and she scratched herself bloody while on the way to emergency and was struggling to breathe and had to be rushed to the resuscitation unit. We spent a terrifying night in emergency as a multitude of E.D. doctors and nurses tried to stabilize her throughout the night, before being discharged the next day.
This experience has been extremely traumatic for my daughter and our family and I am absolutely incensed that this whole experience could have been avoided had the staff at Dr Rudi’s just allowed her to eat her own food or taken more care and actually delivered what they had promised – an allergy free meal for my daughter.
To make matters worse, I wrote to Dr Rudi’s on 6 November on the only email address I could find on their webpage and have not even had the courtesy of a response – Very Poor Dr...
Read moreWent for bottomless brunch and had the worst experience ever due to duty manager Brenna! She had only approached our table 4 times very passive aggressive. It was her idea for us to pay after for the extra person, she had been very condescending when she approached us in the middle to pay… which was fine. We had been seated by the staff outside which had no other reservation , and had to be removed from Brenna from our table due to another booking at 1pm. Our booking was ending at 1:30 - we moved inside and she had come again to our table to tell us we had to stop our drinks at 1pm!!! It was very unwelcoming and so embarrassing! The staff had initially communicated to us that we would finish at 1:30pm and here she was so rudely telling us that’s enough drinks as we were trying to enjoy our time after being removed from the outdoor seating. We communicated to her what we were advised by her staff that we would finish at 1:30pm she had then apologised and left us to go talk to her staff. Just as we thought that was all done she had come back to tell us she was right and had her facts correct, however, this was wrong which we had asked her to talk to her staff not us. She had then tried to “acknowledge how wrong she was and she welcomes our feedback, however was so passive aggressive and was just biting into our time.” As she had left it was then 1:30pm. This was the worst ever! And would never come again due to Brenna!! disgusting and horrid, especially as we were the only table to be picked on in front of everyone. After paying $456 at this place and treated like this! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!! Definitely making a complaint to HR as advised by another staff member who was awesome who advised us of...
Read moreI went to Dr Rudi's last Friday night with my partner to attend a company party. We were a group of 50ish people and we had the whole terrace reserved to us from 5.30pm until 9pm, with some food and drinks (beer and wine only) included. My partner and I got there around 6.30pm and only had a few drinks until our tab finished at 9pm. Then around 10pm most of us moved to the dance floor, where we didn't purchase any drinks. I was wearing high heels and after a couple of hours dancing I felt like going back to the terrace to sit down for a bit (this happened around 00.30am). When my partner and I got to the terrace we got rudely approached by a security guy who told us that his manager asked him to escort us outside as he saw us "stumbling across the room". We were shocked to say the least, having had our last drink around 9-9.30pm (when our tab finished), which means around 3 hours prior getting approached. I firmly asked this guy to speak with his manager and, in return, another security guy came and again asked us to leave, this time suggesting that we would go for a 20min walk and then come back. I insisted on speaking to their manager but was denied that and escorted outside with my partner. Interestingly, the following day we found out that quite a few of our co-workers and friends who attended the same company party got kicked out for the same reason and more or less around the same time we got kicked out. A strategy to get more people who are willing to buy drinks in? Absolutely disgusting treatment anyway. Dr Rudi's was one of our go-to spots in the city, but honestly we will not...
