My friend and I visited Kompass Coffee yesterday for breakfast. Lovely contemporary coffee shop with very friendly staff and fast service. Matcha Latte was absolutely delicious! I like that there is an option of sweet, little sweet or no sweet. The egg croissant was freshly backed and delicious. The smocked salmon bagel was avarage. The matcha canale was cute but borderline inedible - what looked like chocolate, turned out to be charcoal as it was completely burned on the outside. A canale should have a caramelised shell on the outside and a soft, custard-like inside. Not burned. The girl at the counter was very nice when we mentioned this to her and offered us another product free of charge... I am sorry, Kompass Coffee, you can't sell burned food to your customers if you want good reviews. I will come back next time I am in Auckland, as I enjoyed your matcha very much. But, please, have a better consistency...
Read moreAs a coffee addict, I have tried many cups of coffee in my lifetime and this is hands down the best coffee I’ve tried in Auckland, and honestly some of the best I’ve ever tried. Their coffee is wonderfully aromatic, bold, yet balanced, and comes out just as delicious in my French press at home as it does in the shop. It has a community vibe to it because of how close you sit to everyone while you sip your coffee. While some might prefer a more spacious atmosphere, I think it has a charming community vibe that you don’t always get in a big city. Highly...
Read moreThis café is run by a lovely Korean owner who was very kind, and they had a great variety of unique coffee options that you don’t often see elsewhere. It was a busy morning with lots of customers, so I ended up playing it safe and ordered a long black like a fool — but my brave friend ordered the hojicha and absolutely loved it!
The indoor space was small, so we sat outside. There was a super cute table set up on what looked like a traditional Korean-style platform, which gave off such a cozy, nostalgic vibe. With the fresh morning air after the rain, a peaceful view of the park right next to us, a beautiful cup of coffee, and a croissant — everything felt just perfect.
Next time, I’m definitely going to try the black sesame coffee and the canelé....
