Holy moly, is this place a rip off. Paid $16.90 (a ludicrous price for fish and chips) for the worst F&C I’ve ever had. The fish portion was okay, but the batter was flavourless, overcooked, and left a greasy feeling in my mouth. I could have fit the chip portion in my hand, and these were also overcooked and flavourless. Considering this place is located literally at the Auckland fish market, I’m extremely disappointed.

A huge concern was the ‘paywave fee’ of 2.25%. The sign for this was displayed next to the QR code and hand sanitizer. Ironic (and deeply irresponsible) considering we’re still in a pandemic.

Good, fresh food but tricked us with the quantity. We ordered a platter with three types of fried seafood and chips. It took a while to get done which is generally acceptable but when, after all that time, they served us this (please check the attached photo), I lost it. One would assume that these cone shaped things would be filled with fried fish but there are 3 or maybe 4 pieces of fish/seafood in each cone, all sitting on top of fries. Yes, there are more FRIES in each cone! At 38 bucks, that's downright fleecing. Didn’t think too much of this place while browsing the outlets to eat from, but this place stood out because they had a crayfish special posted up, which I don’t think is on the menu. So we decided to give it a try.

Instant regret when we finished the crayfish as it was deliciously bbq’d and very tasty! The freshness was obvious and the wanted more! So we went back a second day and had the whole crayfish this time!

We also ordered the garlic prawns and they were perfectly cooked too and very tasty. We had 3 the first time, but had to go for the 6 the next time.

Can be pricey, but crayfish is worth it if cooked right and fresh. Also comes with a side of fries and salad @...
