Legato Espresso Cafe — Restaurant in Wellington

I eat here regularly, and usually the service is very good, but not today.

I ordered my salad to eat-in, they suggested it be heated, I paid and sat down. My lunch partner's food was delivered within a couple of minutes, but mine never arrived.

I asked where it was, they didn't know. And given they only make a limited amount of each of their salads, they couldn't give me my original order as the salad had sold out. The staff member then suggested one of the two remaining salads, which i selected one. When that arrived, the bowl was only 3/4 full. They offered a partial refund which I agreed to.

Where they fell down on procedure: misplacing my order in the first place delivering my lunch partner's food without checking whether there was any more food coming for the table (they left the table number on the table) while leaving the table number on the table, not noticing that one person at that table was not eating . offering an alternate salad which they didn't have enough of to fill the 'large' I...

Providing you don't walk right past it Legato is neatly tucked away in a corner of the busy Wellington streets. They tote the cheapest pricing in that part of town which can be quite appealing. It's brew on the other hand is on the bland side, but you pay for what you get. They more than make up for it with their cafe charm, however with their helpful staff and seating that its crowded to pack as many peole in as they can. And make no mistake, it is hard to find a seat during the lunch period. The food is less than impressive but the general feel and setting is quite welcoming. Would I go back again? More than I would other nearby cafe's but only when the other better cafés aren't available. Good for a quick cheap fix if...

Went in, as me and my team often do, to get coffee & a panini and was told "we only accept washed keep cups" so I asked if there was somewhere I could wash it and was told "you can use the bathroom but somebody is in there at the moment". Whole thing felt pretty odd and it's the only Cafe in Wellington that I have been to that has that rule. Oh and the has last time I went in to get a coffee (a day or 2 ago) , this rule was not applied. Server was lovely and I love their panini's but I won't be going back...
