What-A-BBQ Smokehouse! — Restaurant in Whau

Recommended by a colleague. Unfortunately did not meet or exceed my expectations. I have been to several BBQ places throughout NZ. Reason for my rating.

Quantity We ordered the $155.00 platter. Serves 3 - 4 people. Upon receiving this platter, it definitely feeds 3 - 4 people entree size plates not proper full sized BBQ meal as I would've expected having been to places like Kikas Brazilian BBQ in Henderson who's platters would double in the portion and quality & also the price being $109.

Service. Didn't really feel welcomed upon entering facility. Customer service could do with a few lessons on customer focus and communication.

Great venue great atmosphere. Lovely interior decor and exterior eating area. Keeping in mind this review is my own personal experience with my family. Your own experience may differ and have a different dining perspective.

Hoping in the near future WHAT a BBQ smokehouse review and improve for catering family sized platters at a reasonable price that reflects quantity. Happy to pay 155.00, just show us $155.00 worth of meat 🫡.

Tucked away beside a scrap metal yard What-A-BBQ Smokehouse is New Lynn's best kept secret. What-a-Fantastic-Space As in, there's a shed-tonne of parking, a HUGE outdoor space just ooozing potential for long summer sessions, an epicly large pivoting glass door opening to a cavernous converted warehouse unit with a massive screen for game night, pinball, arcade games, crafty beer concoctions, table, bar leaner or cosy couch seating choices and lip-smackingly-good smoked meat eats. I'm not sure how long these guys have been in business, but they're not getting a great deal of custom from walk-ins. The location area on Portage Road is in an industrial area, there's nothing operating after dark here and if you weren't keeping a keen eye out you'd totally miss the entrance, which is situated at the rear of a driveway beside the metal scap yard, with only a completely unlit sandwich board sign advising its whereabouts. There are some major standouts at this place, and a few that need some help. Like the punters very touch or any veto. I knew about these guys because I'd seen it mentioned on FB, and I'm close enough , so I figured it was...

A huge thank you to Jules and her amazing team at What-a-BBQ! We celebrated my husband’s 40th birthday today, and it was nothing short of incredible from the clear, friendly communication in the lead-up, right through to the absolutely delicious food on the day.

Everything was so well-organised and stress-free, which meant we could truly relax and enjoy the day with our friends and whānau.

The food was a massive hit we had so many compliments! Every bite was full of flavour, cooked to perfection, and beautifully presented. You could tell it was made with care and passion.

The vibes were spot on chilled, welcoming, and fun making it the perfect place to host a special celebration. We genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
