The biggest missed opportunity in the history of Oslo's nightlife.
The amazing, astonishing view is obfuscated by grey dots engrained in all the windows. Gray curtains are covering the inside. There are no table service, and you have to go to the bar to order. The bartenders are impolite, clueless and incredibly slow. For example: while the queue was growing to 20+ people, two bartenders were cleaning wine glasses with towels, while one was mixing drinks. All three should have been serving the customers. Someone asked for 6 glasses of wine, and the bartender picked them out from the shelf with one hand instead of two at once. I wasted at least 30 minutes waiting. Little details like this compound and make for a lousy experience.
Saturday night when we arrived, tracks like Anastasia - Paid my dues were blasting on the speakers. Which by the way were covered in plastic bags from a grocery store. I'm guessing "Spotify Radio" was the DJ, because they pay zero attention to track selection. We asked for an ashtray, and received one filled to the brim with old cigarette butts. Just tasteless and clueless, through...

While the bartender was quite proficient I felt that not draining the contents of my martini from the shaker and splashing some of the contents from my companion’s Old Fashioned was sub optimal. Pours were small but probably typical for the conservative nature of Norway. The sofas on the inside seemed worn and one could slide off as they offered marginal support. Better to sit outside. The charcuterie plate was well done and served promptly. It might be better to dine at the restaurant for the view and a better experience. and what gives with asking for tips before service is rendered or asking at all in what I thought was a...
Read moreOne of the best sunset views in the city. Overlooks the opera house and the water, the view from the outside area was particularly nice. There was a private birthday hosted the day we went there - accidentally ended up with a great live DJ (although I assume that is not the norm). The drinks were classics, decent but not phenomenal; the atmosphere more than made up for the okay drinks. Delightful place for people watching. Service can be quite slow and impractical - there is some waiting time at the bar, and then have to carry cocktail glasses filled to the brim back to your table (impossible without spilling a chunk of one's...
