One of cosiest restaurants in all of Tromsø, if not the cosiest!
Eating locally sourced fresh arctic fish is more than just a necessity in Tromsø, it’s practically a bucket list activity. Japan imports this fish to use in their high end sushi for a reason! And yet despite this, it’s not as easy to come across as you might think, with the majority of such establishments that serve it around the city verging on fine dining in both atmosphere and price.
Bradus is the perfect middle ground. It is by no means cheap but is still very accessible, and its incredibly friendly staff, warm and cosy interior, and beautifully crafted dishes will leave you wanting to go back for a second visit.
I ate the steamed halibut, after a lovely starter of cured salmon. Both were exceptional, and were complimented with a lovely selection of quirky vegetables, appealing colours, and most importantly, contrasting flavours.
My partner could not eat fish and so settled on lamb ribs, which to our surprise was so good that it may even have trumped the fish! The house red and deserts were excellent too.
This is the first place I would recommend to anybody who had just one evening in the city. But be sure to book earlier in the day is it...
Read moreGreat find in Tromso! My Initial thoughtsof this place was that it didn't have a very varied menu. But that didn't matter. I had the duck starter with demi glaze, and the sauce was so go, and went perfectly with the duck and salad, thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it.
Had the cod for mains and again everything on the plate just went so well, the corn espuma sauce was delicious with the fish...not sure the salsa really belonges there, but it didn't take anything away from the dish, so will just accept it there. Also the cod on its own was also tasty...unlike fish in other places that just taste bland without the other bits. The reindeer dish my partner had was also good.
The chocolate fondant was also very nice.
I had the aperol spritz cocktail which in most places is watered down with tonic, but not here, was just the aperol and sparkling wine and was well worthit. All in all was a really good experience and would recommend them. They also have a bar, which we didn't try, but could be nice to go for an after dinner drink.
Only downside is, the tables were quite small! But that contributes to a cosy vibe...Still slightly bigger tables would be...
Read moreThis place is everything a restaurant should be! A cosy & comfortable vibe, amazing staff and most importantly, fantastic food! We were visiting Tromso and this was on our list of restaurants to try. Since my partner is vegetarian and there's no vegetarian section on the menu, the chef put together something simple and delicious. The lovely staff helped us pair our food with great wine as well. We were so moved by the friendly staff (Christina and Joanna) and so mind blown by the food that we decided we HAVE to have another meal there before we left Tromso. The second meal was another hit out of the park! I will forever recommend this place to people visiting Tromso, I tried the moose meat balls, fish of the day (dried cod), roasted potato dish (off menu), beetroot barley rissoto (off menu), brown cheese icecream and chocolate fondant. but i reckon everything on the menu will be fantastic because the chefs seem to understand food deeply. All in all, this might be the best and the most original food I have ever eaten in a restaurant. This place has a...
