We were here for the buffet which is all you can eat for 200 NOK. For that you get sushi, algea salad, satay and some other side dishes. There were six different kinds of sushi to choose from, including one vegetarian option. One kind was nigiri the others were all inside out sushi. Beside the vegetarian option there was one with salmon one "breakfast" sushi with strawberry, another one with some crispy fried on the outside that tasted very much like fried fish, and one with canned thuna. So the sushi choice from the buffet was not that big and the taste was good but not amazing. The satay was good too. In general if you are fine with the offered options from the buffet, the price is really really good for what you get from it. The service was also really nice and constantly provided is with new tab water. The ambiente itself was very calm and nice. If you want high quality and a better choice then you probably want to invest more money in a different place. But for the price quality ration of the buffet I...
Read moreA small sushi bistro where the first thing you notice: the rolls are made by a machine. Yes, it’s modern and fast, but the soul gets lost. All the rolls fall apart the rice isn’t packed tightly, and it lacks the texture that comes from hand-rolling. I’ve tried sushi in different countries and even trained in making it - it’s easy to tell when something’s made with care. The taste is good, the ingredients are fresh. Some interesting fillings - apple, strawberry, mango. It’s more of a modern take on Japanese cuisine than a traditional one. But tasty nonetheless. Service was fine overall, mostly because there were few customers. Orders arrived quickly. The hostess/waitress seemed lost, probably not fluent in English, and struggled with simple questions. If it were busier, I doubt the team would manage well. Drink selection is basic. Tea comes in bags, no choice, no ceremony. That’s a downside for an Asian place. In Japan or China, tea is almost a ritual. Here it’s...
Read moreFirst visit to this restaurant; not first visit to Sabrura. Location is good, in the historic, picturesque old quarter called Bakklandet. We chose this restaurant due to how busy the one in the centre of town close to Trondheim Torg was. Many things disappointed us here; despite there being a QR-code to scan to register for COVID tracing at the entrance we were not asked asked to do this(unlike the other Sabrura restaurants we visited this week where we weren’t allowed in until we had done it), the two chefs were overworked making up the takeout orders which meant that the buffet was empty for salmon sushi for most of our meal. The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy, so it seemed like the takeout orders were being...
