Rosita Calavera Cocina Mexicana — Restaurant in Bajo Boquete

We stopped here based on other reviews. We are from the southwest US but didnt have real high expectations since we are in Panama.

We ordered the Birra Tacos and 2 margaritas, as it was 2 for 1 margarita night.

The margaritas were probably 10-12oz each (quite small). At $7 for the two it was an okay price. Way too small of drinks though at $7 per drink on a regular night. Also, the margaritas were so sour we couldn't even drink them. They told us it was no problem and took them away.

The birra tacos: The meat was pretty good but the tortillas were not. The price seemed high at $11 for 4 street tacos.

Chips were stale or old tasting.

Lastly, they attempted to charge us for the margaritas when the check came. When I asked if they were going to charge us for the drinks even though we couldn't drink them, the server looked at someone inside as though they knew it might come up. Ultimately we weren't charged for them.

We probably won't be back.

The chicken and beef were both dry in the tacos we had. The parking is not great, more prefernces providing to plant pots and so you car will stick out into the street. And then we were told that since we were the first customers they had no change. There is A LOT of competition in this town for food, and especially Mexican. If the owner is serious, they need to fix these things. We won't be returning, better opportunities in this town. ...

Fuimos a cenar aquí esperando una experiencia agradable, pero desafortunadamente ese no fue el resultado. Preguntamos al mesero si era posible cambiar la tortilla de harina por una de maíz. Consultó con el chef y regresó diciendo que sí era posible. Todo lo demás era igual. Al recibir las quesadillas de carne molida que pedimos llegaron con arroz y frijoles en vez de carne. Las quesadillas eran solo de arroz con frijoles y lo demás que va en el relleno era muy poco. Ese plato no era barato y lo que te dan no va en relación al precio y a la calidad. Le comentamos al mesero, pero el nos dijo que así era su carne molida. ¿Cómo lo voy a saber? El menú es mi guía. Me guié con él y recibí algo diferente. Por ningún lado decía que tenía arroz o frijoles. Tuvimos que esperar mucho más por el cambio de comida y cuando llegó, habían olvidado el guacamole. El pico de gallo, sour cream, etc. fue tan poco que solo alcanzaba para una quesadilla. Hubo que contar los pedacitos de tomate para que alcanzaran para el resto. En los tacos que pedí, los de vegetales, a penas había guacamole. Creo que hay que mejorar el servicio y la descripción del menú para evitar estas...
