We love it! 5 stars aren't nearly enough. Now, every time we have friends visit Panama, we will bring them to En La Fonda. It is a unique, very fun experience. The food is delicious, and the Margaritas are some of the best we've ever tasted. Prices are very reasonable considering the exceptional experience you will have. This is where Panamanians go to celebrate their special occasions. For Panamanians, it evokes special memories of family get-togethers at grandma's house. So - expect great food and warm hospitality - there's an incredible live music show (it's not long, so it doesn't dominate your meal), there are pretty, floral, mismatched plates, aluminum(?) water glasses plus tables and tablecloths like a Panamanian abuela would have in her home. Take some time to explore all of the rooms in the restaurant. We had fun looking at the murals on the walls - they're a combination of great photography, painting and sculpture to create a 3D experience. We really got a kick out of identifying places we'd like to visit and places that we've been. We were amazed that the plantains in the dugout canoe were real. Just changing them up requires a level of dedication! We sat a spell in the rocking chairs on the adobe walled porch, and we took some great photos with the in house Diablo Rojo! That was especially fun for us as the day before, we'd done a day trip to the Portobelo area where the Diablo Rojos still run all day and on a fairly regular schedule. Oh, and one of the wall murals was Fort Santiago - we were there on our Portobelo area trip. On a Saturday night, there were multiple generations having fun, from little kids to seniors. We danced, including a conga line that really made us feel like we were taking part in a big, family celebration. We finished the evening with both our bellies and our hearts full. We speak only a little Spanish the staff speak a little English and with the ease of the online menu and a translate app, communication was easy. We're already looking forward to our next visit. There's valet parking if you're driving - there's an indoor parking lot. If arriving on foot or by Uber, you'll find the entrance in what looks like an office building. The door is between other restaurant patios. It is up one floor. Take the stairs or an elevator....
Read moreI am a foodie and En La Fonda delivered!!! My sister recommended it to me and my nice Jennifer from "Mi Concierge Online" miconciergeonline.com recommended it to her! So 😊 glad!!! I made it to En La Fonda during my last visit to Panama. I felt like the quality of the dishes was awesome 😎. I felt as if they put effort into getting the ingredients for their dishes from the right sources 🚚 and they have knowledge of the nature of the dishes; the Why they were created, the How they were made and you can taste all of that effort when you put each bite in your mouth 👍🏽 The Food is 😋 delicious! I had the opportunity to meet the owner Poulett⭐✴️✳️, she is sweet, welcoming, fun and very very connected to everything she does! I'm amazed at her creativity and talents!!! Her taste is exquisite and it's reflected throughout En La Fonda experience and at her Boutique!!! I stopped there first and almost stayed! She's the model for the super chic fashions and she rocks!!! The clothing was trendy and upscale. I have had so many compliments on the outfits I purchased at La Farfalla "DHD Boutique" and would like to buy more of her amazing must have clothing.👑 After my first visit and after meeting Poulett, the owner and enjoying the Sancocho, Pescado frito con Patacones, Yuquita frita los Super cocktails con Saril, I was dying to have Saril! 🍹I made reservations and took my whole family 🙏🏽for an Amazing Night at En La Fonda. 💎 The food, drinks "Cubetazos", Panama experience Decor, the Team was exceptional☝️🤩☝️, concerned about keeping us satisfied at every level, courteous and kind just as Poulett!!! Read moreHad a wonderful experience here on our first night having dinner after our long trip arriving in Panama. The owner met us at the entrance and gave us a tour of the whole restaurant which has different theme areas with murals and little houses made out of wood and leaves just like the ones the natives and other indian tribes that were running away from Colombia and also the slaves the Spaniards brought there thru "El Darien" (a dangerous rain forest area) back in the days and how they lived in then. Told us stories of their origin and how they fought, revolted, evolved and blended in with the Panama of today. The food is Creole and you can definitely appreciate the indian, african and spaniard seasoning and flavors. The Caramiñolas "made out of yuca" stuffed with seasoned meat and then fried and the chicharones (pork rinds) in tamarind sauce was the best for me. Also their guandu rice (yellow rice with green pigeon peas) with Patacones (smashed then fried green plaintains) was delicious too. Around 8:00pm they put on a live show demonstrating their traditional dance in their typical costumes and invite the patrons to join in. A really good tour, dinner and show that you cannot miss when in Panama City. 100%...
