went there recently with family and stayed over a few days. there's hot water in the reception area with plenty of tea options including coca leaves in case you struggle with altitude (2300 m affects some people already) or have a trip planned for higher altitude places like in the nearby mountains. the 'lobby' and the breakfast (sometimes tea 'room' are in the open, the lobby is partially covered while the breakfast patio is totally outdoors, the architecture is chefs kiss as it was apparently the house of a colonial clerk/nobleman. there's plenty of sunlight and fresh air from the mountains and if it's too cold, there are heaters placed between tables. the internet/business center is equipped with a pc and the wifi is fast. the rooms are located in different 'blocks' depending on the sort, ours were in the same 'cubicle' and only heard people if they were being extra loud at the aisles. the bed was extra comfortable and there was a tub which suited well after a full day out and even more after hiking in the mountains. the main and only criticism I can come up with is that they don't refill the juice at breakfast despite there being over an hour left of service and it runs out quite soon. if you want to have breakfast after 8:30 you won't likely find any juice left of any sort (and you'd have to request, which can take up some time).|the staff was kind and amiable throughout the stay, often stricking up conversation (don't know if just with us because we are spanish speakers or if they do it with non spanish speakers too) and recommending stuff. overall a...
Read moreThe hotel is lovely, in a fabulous location, but we were allocated a terrible room (103) which when I complained, staff agreed is completely unsuitable for guests. It's in the main hub of the hotel in cobbled corridor beside the hotel's breakfast courtyard, a corridor that leads to the rest of the more secluded guest rooms. This meant we were disturbed from the last guests coming in at night to the first guests leaving in the morning, dragging cases across the cobbles less than 10 feet from our bed. From 5am we could hear staff setting up breakfast with crockery and cutlery rattling, could hear clearly every time someone used the coffee machine and all of the breakfast chatter. This was our last night in Peru, ahead of a 28 hour journey back home to the UK and we simply couldn't get any undisturbed sleep in this room. If you are allocated this room, insist on a room switch...
Read moreI was only here for one night but had a good stay. The hotel has a lot of character in the communal areas with the rooms at the back mostly modern. Due to a mix-up on the hotel’s part, I was kindly upgraded to junior suite which was very spacious and comfortable. Had all the amenities (kettle, hair dryer, mini bar, iron etc). Bed was huge, bathroom also very spacious. Black out blinds were great. Breakfast was good, with some hot dishes, including eggs, grilled vegetables and (fried chicken :)) lots of fruits, juices etc. And a good coffee machine. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is fantastic, close to the main square and right next to the Santa Catalina Monastery (main sight of Arequipa). Checkout is 12:00 which is nice in comparison to other hotels in Peru with 9/10am checkout times!
Bathroom shower door didn’t close properly but otherwise...
