Recently, I embarked on a flavorful journey at Kuya J Restaurant, and boy, did they deliver some tasty treats!
Let's start with the chicken sisig, shall we? It was a sizzling symphony of flavors, with tender chicken bits perfectly seasoned and accompanied by tangy calamansi. Each bite left me wanting more, and I couldn't help but do a little happy dance in my seat.
Next up, the Lechon kawali. Oh, the crispy, succulent pork belly goodness! It was like a harmonious blend of crunch and melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. If you're a fan of crispy pork, this dish is an absolute must-try.
Moving on to the sinigang na baboy, the broth was bursting with sour tamarind notes, perfectly complementing the tender pork and fresh vegetables. It was a comforting bowl of goodness that warmed both my stomach and my soul.
Lastly, the Pancit canton. This classic noodle dish was packed with flavors and a medley of colorful veggies. It had a delightful balance of savory and umami, leaving me slurping every last noodle from my plate.
While the food at Kuya J Restaurant was undeniably delicious, I must note that the service could use a bit of improvement. The waitstaff seemed a bit overwhelmed, and the pace of service could have been faster. But hey, good things come to those who wait, right?
Overall, I give Kuya J Restaurant a solid 3 stars. The flavors of their dishes were exceptional, bringing the taste of the Philippines to every bite. With a little improvement in the service department, this place has the potential to become a true gem in the culinary scene. Keep up the good work, Kuya J, and let those flavors...
Read moreHad a really disappointing experience at this branch. The food was way way too pricey, we spent almost ₱1,900 for just 2 pieces of pork chops, a small bowl of kare-kare with maybe 3–4 pieces of meat, a pancit good for one person, and one rice bowl.
We also ordered lumpia, but the waiter forgot to put it in, so we had to wait another 30 minutes. When it finally came out, it wasn’t even fully cooked. No tissues, no serving spoons, and the staff all seemed super rushed. I tried to ask two servers for help and both just ignored me.
When I tried to add another order (since the food wasn’t really enough), the server immediately said “Ma’am, 15–20 minutes po,” even before I finished talking which is really rude. Also, ate at the cashier was also rushing me to pay and was extremely rude, and lahat nagsisigawan sa floor when they can just talk on the side.
When my card didn’t processed, she just grabbed it from my hand and said, “Insert nalang ma’am,” which honestly felt uncomfortable.
I ended up talking to the manager because it was just too stressful overall. We paid around ₱3,800 which I don’t think its...
Read moreWe were sat on a vacant table with wet booth chairs wherein I had to ask for tissues, wiped it on my own before sitting, while all the staff was watching—which they should have already checked prior considering it open for sitting. The staff only informed us that all fruit drinks were unavailable and another set of viands when we already chose 'them'. Unavailable items should already be told prior to the guest ordering. Staff just said, 'wala kasing delivery' when questioned. We ordered a platter of rice, which looked like equivalent of 2 cups only. Our second order had more than enough. Was that a tactic? Our food arrived around 40-45 minutes which was too long. Usually, a staff would inform the guest on the waiting time, right? Squid sisig was amazing! However, the serving was too small for its price and was full of jalapeños. Bagnet strips were too bland. The first serving of vinegar was savory! Asked for another refill, and they gave us a different one. Billing out and waiting for the change took so much...
