We grew up loving Snow Sheen—their signature buttered chicken, fried lumpia, lomi, canton, and bam-i were childhood staples and long-time favorites. So on a recent quick visit to Colon, we decided to drop by and have lunch at one of their branches. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations.
We were excited, looking forward to the familiar taste we had always associated with Snow Sheen, but left disappointed. To break it down: the camaron rebosado, as you can see in the photo, was overcooked and tasted like it had been fried in reused oil. It was crispy, yes—but almost burnt and dry inside, lacking the freshness we remembered. We initially ordered canton, but it was bland and too soft, with clumps of noodles sticking together. We requested to have it replaced, and while the pansit guisado was an improvement, it still didn’t quite capture the flavor we used to enjoy.
On a positive note, the portions for the budget meals were generous. However, my pork steak was served cold. We also ordered the chicken budget meal, which arrived around 30 minutes later. While the chicken was soft, juicy, and crispy, it was lacking flavor on its own—you’ll definitely need a dip.
The staff, to their credit, were attentive and respectful when we raised our concerns. They accepted our request to return the canton and even tried it themselves. We appreciate their openness, but still hope the restaurant can revisit its standards. Snow Sheen has been around for years, and we’re hoping they bring back the quality that made them a crowd favorite in the...
Read moreSo this review definitely coming from an outsider’s taste. It’s my first coming here and I’ve been living in Cebu for quite some time now. I know. Such a shame 😅
My friends been telling me about Snowsheen for a very long time and it’s just a matter of letting myself to try their food.
Snowsheen definitely a nostalgic experience for most of Cebuanos. As an outsider and first timer, it really didn’t quite get my taste but these few menu really hits me, love the shanghai rice, quail soup and buttered chicken. Canton which is their specialty didn’t really hit me.
A lot of things factor in, like Cebu has a tons of Chinese cuisine that you can choose nowadays. The options are endless now especially that Eat Fresh is now here in the city.
Yet Snowsheen stand a test of its time. It’s a nostalgic food trip. A lot of stories surrounds it. History had been made. If you’re an outsider and want to see the culture of Cebu. I think Snowsheen is the...
Read moreGrew up with Snowsheen and wanted to try it again after years, disappointingly, the quality of food was terrible and I got food poisoning a few hours later until the next day. We ordered the lumpia, fried rice, makimi, chopsuey, and pancit canton - they all tasted like cornstarch and they use the same sauce for most of the dishes. The lumpia tasted like fillers and not than real meat, strangely pink. We didn't even finish our food nor take out because it was so terrible. The place was also very dirty and you can smell the toilet. I don't exaggerate when I say this but this has to be the worst...
