BLUF: Beachfront, expensive, pub-grub Western food selections, young inexperienced staff. Decent coffee. 3-Star for Siargao City. 3-Star for the Philippines. 2.5-Star for a Cafe on the planet.

PRO: overlooking the beach, open comfortable seating and lounging options.

CON: Pricy (400P minute, chewy burger), un-inspired menu, un-attentive staff, would never travel here for the food (only the view).

HINTS: As always in a Filipino restaurant, #1 ask for a list of condiments on your entree. #2 Then ask if ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, special sauce, or ANY other ingredients (that were not already divulged in your first question) are also included. The answer will always be “yes” ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, special sauce, artificial margarine, and fish sauce are on your pancakes.

Loka – Chill Vibes, Great Food, and the Coldest Beer in Siargao

Loka is the kind of place that instantly feels like a favorite local spot. Perfectly located in Cloud 9, it’s ideal for either a pre-surf breakfast or a post-surf meal. The portions are big, the food is delicious, and the prices are very reasonable — a great combo that’s sometimes hard to find in tourist spots.

I spent a few afternoons here with my son during sunset happy hour, and it quickly became our go-to hangout. You can’t beat their San Miguel Draft Beer deal — ₱200 for 3 ice-cold beers, easily the coldest and cheapest draft on the island.

Mornings are also a great time to drop by — grab a seat, enjoy your food, and do some people-watching as surfers and locals start their day. By sunset, the whole vibe turns mellow and golden, making it the perfect place to wind down and take in Siargao’s laid-back energy.

Whether you’re here for the food, the beer, the view, or just to relax, Loka hits all the right notes. Definitely a must-visit...

Honestly don’t understand how this place got so many good reviews. The vibe is definitely on point, although if you want to overlook Jacking Horse you need to go a bit further. If you’re not a local you have to pay 100pesos to get to Cloud 9, which is understandable, but then if you’re ordering food at Loka and want to sit on the waterfront (which is maybe 5m away from the regular tables) the staff says you have to pay 500pesos per person to sit there, which is a joke and I think management has done something wrong here 😂 Pizza at Shaka is infinitely better (and doesn’t come with hair in it). The staff doesn’t care one bit - had to go to the counter to order food and to get the bill, as apart from bringing our food they didn’t come to our table once even though there was literally 5 people behind the counter having the time of their lives.
