Our family of 4 spent a week long vacation in Siargao and stayed at Kawayan Villa Sep 30th to Oct 7th 2024. We had the whole place to ourselves. This was our first time in Siargao coming from Los Angeles. We researched many resorts and villas online before choosing Kawayan. Best decision we made. The property is in a great location - steps away from Cloud 9 surfing beach and close enough to the shops, restaurants and attractions in General Luna.
Kawayan has 2 separate villas and a great big area for lounging, dining, and relaxing complete with a bar and a pool table. The rooms in the villas were built for comfort with king sized beds, cool AC, stocked mini fridges, half outdoor showers and full amenities you may need. In the middle of the property was a very inviting swim pool with lounge chairs and cabanas perfect for chilling out after a full day of enjoying the island's adventures. The whole property is lush with greenery, trees, plants, flowers and local foliage where you feel safe and secluded in a tropical paradise.
Every morning we were treated to a great complimentary breakfast feast of our choice with Filipino, Western or Continental choices. Coffee, fresh fruit, smoothies, fresh fruit juices and freshly baked croissants and pastries from the French bakery next door were great treats. In the evenings, we had cocktails in the bar area and food delivered from local restaurants prepared and served to us by the friendliest and most hospitable staff.
We have been to many places all over the world but can truly say Kawayan Villas in Siargao was one of the most memorable. The warm hospitality offered to us by the owners David and Crystal were off the charts. The entire staff were commendable and always anticipated our every needs. They really spoiled us.
If we ever go back to Siargao, Kawayan Villas is where you will find us. Highly...
Read moreThe resort has great potential to receive a greater rating. However, our experience at Kawayan Siargao Resort did not meet the positive reviews from other guests.||||When we arrived at the resort, we were escorted to our villa - the hostess said she was new to the resort so couldn't answer any questions of ours (i.e. Wi-Fi connection).||||The resort was very pretty - tropical and private. The room was spacious and the bathroom was cool with a semi-outdoor shower.||||After we settled in, we went to the resort restaurant for dinner. Lo and behold, we were told that they would not be able to accommodate dinner because they did not have a chef (!!!). So we ended up finding dinner down the road.||||We returned to our room after dinner, and to our surprise, walked into the bathroom, and was greeted by a large RAT! Let's just say, from that point on, we did not get much rest. The staff did catch the rat, but we were afraid of another one coming into the bathroom (through the semi-outdoor shower). Our suggestion to the resort is to somehow secure a way to keep rodents out of the bathroom/room if they want to keep the openness of the semi-outdoor shower ambience.||||The Wi-Fi connection did not work most of the time during our stay.||||We ended up changing our length of stay to two nights and both nights, we experienced more negative experiences than positive (i.e. rodent, poor Wi-Fi, no dining, power outage).||||The staff members were very nice and kind.||||It is very unlikely that we'll be returning to this resort...
Read moreDoes paradise need an oasis? Apparently it doesn't hurt and the Kawayan Siargao Resort fills the need quite well. A very exclusive oasis, even when "full" it means that only two parties occupy the grounds, consisting of a beautiful garden surrounding a nice pool, with the two villas on either side of the pool. In four nights at the resort my wife and I shared the facilities with other guests the first night, then had the resort to ourselves the next three.||||The villa is spacious and airy, with a nice veranda out front with a view of the garden and pool, a great place to relax in the evenings. The bedroom and bath were very clean, and as mentioned many times the bath is unique with an indoors/outdoors design. Maybe this is the only drawback, the bath, being 'outside', is a bit of a maintenance problem - the floors and walls show some significant deterioration. Also, and no way around this, mosquitoes and other critters such as frogs inhabit the bath.||||The staff couldn't be more wonderful, always friendly and making every effort to accommodate our every wish - whether it was extra towels, or mosquito coils, or arranging a custom island hop.||||The included breakfast was good also, and quite a robust start to the day, whether you decided on the Filipino, English, or Continental options.||||Overall, a real Oasis...
