Actively bad at their jobs coffee-wise, low quality food, and high prices. Basically, fast-food quality food and coffee for “decent restaurant” prices, an absolutely terrible value and decision. Don’t come here unless you hate yourself, 1.5 stars is generous.
Also don’t come here if you’re looking for the Monte Cristo (literally the only reason I came here), because they’ll claim it’s “out” and they can’t make it. Unfortunately we’d already ordered and my gf was hungry, so we didn’t try to find another place.
Tried French press coffee, tortoise cocktail, bone marrow, Hawaiian pizza, and “special plate” fried chicken. All a mistake except the cocktail.
Their French press coffee was actively terrible, brewed both over-temp and steeped too long, AND they ground the beans fine, all complete amateur mistakes, and as a result, bitter and single note flavor with zero complexity. I literally make 5x better French press coffee every morning with local PI beans, they are legit bad at their jobs regarding coffee. 0/5
Pizza was “frozen and reheated pizza” quality, and the marinara sauce was overly sweet with too much sugar in it, with the rest of it bland and cardboardy. Gross. 0/5
The bone marrow was actually decent in taste, but a tiny amount of food for the price. 3/5
Fried chicken was completely bland, ZERO spices in the batter, too much oil in the breading, once again terrible, fast food quality if you interpret charitably. 1/5
Surprisingly, the cocktail was decent - I fully expected it to be overly sweet, single note, and skimpy on alcohol, but they actually did a decent job. 4/5
0/5 + 0/5 + 3/5 + 1/5 + 4/5 = 8/25, a little over 1.5 out of 5 stars total. So they get two stars rounded up, but I’d never come here again, and would recommend you never come here either. We came in hungry and needing coffee and left with 60%+ of the food and coffee still on the table uneaten...
Read moreWe arrived at 9am on a Saturday for a group of 4. There was always a sizeable crowd, but the spacing of the restaurant made it like a chill experience. Seated in lush leather sofa chairs - the setting is definitely comfortable alongside woodish coffee house hues and personality filled decorum. There were probably only two servers, so you could tell they were quite busy. Our food came out first (20 minutes later or so) before prompting for our drinks - so a person decided to cancel their drink order. Additionally, we have been asking for the check; but along the way, it was delayed. I noticed this for other customers as well. That is the main reason I’m deducting a point. We did stay comfortably for almost two hours. One of the servers though are very friendly and engages well with the customers by asking how their day was or to come again, etc etc. The food itself, was quite delightful. I got a pork belly rice, and I’ve had it before. It’s definitely a reliable get including a nicely doused pork belly, fragrant rice, an egg of your choice and some carrots / cucumber to rinse the palate - a very sizable, filling serving (P480) and one of the more affordable ones at that (the rest can go P550+). I got one of their specialty drinks, Babyccino (P120) - the other coffees were in the P250+ range so I opted for this. It had a nice tan foam and basically was a sweet dairy milk drink. I didn’t mind it, and it did bring me back to a childhood moment. If you don’t really want caffeine, you can get this. My seating partner also got an Avocado Toast, who said it was good and had a decent size to it. I’d recommend coming to Single Origins for the ambience, coffee expertise (they have so many different kinds of machines, etc.) and the pretty good food. Just be aware that the service might be slower and...
Read moreI’ve eaten in back alleys of Boracay and back kitchens in Poblacion, but sometimes—just sometimes—you find a place right in your own neighborhood that hits all the right notes without trying too hard. Single Origin in Rockwell is that place.
It’s been our go-to café for as long as I can remember. The kind of joint where the staff doesn’t just serve—they remember. Special shoutout to Jeramie, Dess, and Pia—they’ve got that rare mix of attentiveness without hovering. You feel taken care of without being babysat.
Now, let’s talk food. Their burger? Juicy, messy in the best way, with a bun that’s got just the right kind of crunch. The Reuben? It doesn’t just sit there—it speaks. Salty, tangy, fatty—everything a sandwich should be. And the Spanish Latte—smooth, a little bitter on top, like life. It cuts through the sweetness, leaves you awake and wanting more.
They don’t skimp on portions either. You won’t leave hungry—hell, you might even unbutton a notch. And when the lights dim at 8pm, the place takes on a whole different character. Softer. Warmer. Like it’s letting you in on a secret.
And if you’re the type who judges a café by its desserts—good. Their cheesecake? Rich, creamy, unapologetically indulgent. It’s the kind of thing you eat slowly, savoring every bite like it’s your last.
So go. Eat. Stay awhile. Single Origin isn’t just another café—it’s a reminder that sometimes, the best stories begin with a good cup of coffee and a damn fine sandwich.
And as the Terminator famously...
