I initially posted a bad review back in December.
But after coming back again first with friends even after my bad experience, I decided to keep on frequenting Buccaneers.
I began to remember why I liked being a regular in the first place.
Not only did I like the environment, the food and the drinks but I also enjoyed the service and considerations of the staff.
When I needed to work on something, they provided me a safe and comfortable place to do so.
If I had a device that needed charging, they allowed me to charge.
If I felt unsafe, the staff members kept vigilant.
I know that some of these sound pretty standard you should expect to find in every club and bar in Poblacion but that’s not what I’ve found.
That’s why Buccaneers is the only bar that I really frequent anymore in Poblacion.
The affordable cocktail nights are also a plus for me along with the fact that there’s no arbitrary dress code that bans stuff like sandals or anything. As long as you’re clothed, that’s what should matter.
As I reflect on my time, I realise how petty my original bad review was.
And I sincerely apologise to any damage my past bad review has done to Buccaneers’ reputation and I am sorry for criticising the staff who work there especially after they’ve treated me well.
I highly recommend this bar. It’s one of the few bars that play afrobeats and I’ve found it more accommodating than the Alibi Lounge despite being known more for that.
But I highly recommend the staff even more. Treat them well and they’ll treat you better. I’d like to especially thank the waitresses who have helped me.
And give Buccaneers ago even on Mondays,Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. It’s open everyday. I usually go there since it’s less crowded.
Fridays and Saturdays are obviously usually crowded as expected as that’s everywhere in Poblacion.
However don’t get me wrong Buccaneers is still an active spot on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays you can always find people here, cocktail nights and some banging tunes. Plenty of dance floor and space with good company and people to have better conversations with.
Happy New Year!
And I bless Buccaneers’ and all those who work there to have...
Read moreService : Terrible. The bar was empty and the staff payed no attention to us and made us feel unwelcome. They were vaping behind the bar and texting the entire time, instead of paying attention to the patrons. I have been in the hospitality industry for over 10 years and this was a shock to see.
Despite the poor service and bad food, we tried to “kill them with kindness”. The staff was yawning in our faces while and responding with a cold demeanor.
Food : Bland and boring. The cocktails had ingredients that were not listed on the menu, and entirely changed the taste of the drink. BURNT coconut flakes ruined the drink, making it taste like an ashtray and there was no mention of it on the menu.
Atmosphere : Cheesy and gimmicky. I’ve been to 20+ tiki bars and this was a joke.
Best thing here : the bottle of...
Read moreWent to buccaneers because we heard it is a great rum bar. The ambience and the interior design is superb, similar to a tavern or ship look. Would have loved to take more shots but it was just too dark. We ordered several drinks and our overall experience is great.
Our recommendations: Dark and stormy -dark rum with ginger beer. This is my favorite and i think i can drink this all night. La batanga - premium lambanog with pineapple more like pina colada. La sayona - pineapple is sweet and the lime make it sour and towards the end there is a spicy kick. Shrimp ball-is also great! Coffee shot - too strong but great!
Not a fan of: Mojitio with rum base - tastes like mojito not sure if rum was indeed the base. Whisky sour - not okay And oh, this place only has one toilet for both...
