My first worst and definitely last experience with MILKY WAY CAFE Arnaiz, coz I'm not going back ever again to this discriminating cafe! I just bought 2 halo halo for TAKE OUT since the cafe is about to close. The guard even told us "sarado na po" but we insisted saying "ay sabi kasi sa google 9pm pa po?" Everything went okay from ordering until payment. Tho I already questioned the staff about service charge. "May service charge padin even if take out?" the staff answered jokingly, "kasi mam yung pagkayod ng yelo service po yon" to which I just smiled.
But when I got my order na and about to walk out of the restuarant, I heard another lady staff calling me "ma'am!, ma'am" and when I looked back, she even almost blocked me from going out of the store saying "ma'am bawal po kasi nakatsinelas." I was totally shocked after hearing it. Like, whaaat!!??? She escorted me (I felt her holding my lower back) as if guiding my way take a seat (for what??) and as if I'm bring interrogated for a crime I committed.
At that point, their actions weren't making any sense. Seriously?!!
Take note, I passed through 2 security guards, was inside their store for only about 6mins, already got my order, was ready to leave only to be apprehended because the staff failed to see me wearing slippers before entering premises?
Then another staff told her "okay na, okay na" She then let me go out while saying (I cant remember what she exactly said basta something like) "bawal daw po kasi sabi ng may-ari, may nasesante na po kasi dati" ang nasabi ko na lang
"Napakadiscriminating nyo naman!"
Not a single apology from them for their inappropriate treatment. It honestly would've been acceptable kung sinabing "next time po ha bawal po nakaslippers." What's the sense of holding a customer inside the cafe for wearing slippers? It just doesn't make sense.
Food review: Overpriced for a tumbler of halo-halo. There's nothing special about its taste and quality.
Staff service: ₱52.68 service charge for a take out order is not even worth it lalo na kung masisita ka pa for wearing slippers. Btw I decided to wear my havaianas after a badminton game. That's why I was wearing slippers..
I just found out sa receipt punched pla as dine in kaya may charge. I clearly said for take out considering the time I arrived at...
Read moreVery disappointed!!!! The Thai spring rolls that I wanted for appetizers is not available, instead someone suggested kropek omg! We're thirteen pax total so we ordered many kinds of all-time favorite viands, but the first thing we're served is rice!!!!! Of course by the time our viands will be done, the rice will be cold!!!! We were so busy catching up and the only thing I remembered about the food is, small servings, bland, the lechon kawali may be crunchy as it should but still very small servings, the catfish was yucky looking I didn't bother trying it, mostly untouched (I wonder who ordered it) we ordered three of each item, good thing there's also boneless Bangus, caldereta was ok a bit sweet for my taste where it should be spicy so I have to ask for fish sauce, the bibingka looking tortang talong is a pleasant surprise, I didn't get to try the adobong pusit, sotanghon. Overall nothing was impressive about the food but we had a blast chatting and laughing, but the biggest surprise of all was when we we're leaving I heard from one of our friends that our bill came to 42k+!!!!! And this is with matching senior IDs of 10 from us!!!!!! I don't really mind spending money as long as its worth it!!!! Now my joke "it's better in out neighborhood carinderia because I'm always served hot steaming rice!" took a more substantial weight! And I regret not taking a more active part choosing what to order and checking the prices because we we're chatting and giggling the whole time. There are a lot more places we could've gone and had better...
Read moreI’m on a quest for superb dinuguan (Filipino pork blood stew) from food providers that are consistently reliable to buy from. Actually I already found the perfect delicious one — Juliet’s Lechon. However they don’t always have it in the menu and usually it’s just included as a freebie when you order their whole lechon. Anyway back to Milky Way. It ain’t them. Apart from being overpriced (teeny portion for the price), the dinuguan is full of lean, stringy, dryish pork, essentially ruining the dinuguan experience as a comfort food. The timpla is excellent though with the right balance of suka and spices. Maybe they could offer an option of all lamang-loob sans the pork. Or use fattier pork or bagnet or lechong kawali maybe. The puto is also excellent though a bit on the too sweet side...
