Nihonbashi-tei is a middle class restaurant where you can find authentic Japanese meal, whether ala carte or bento. I was looking for rare authentic soda/udon such as tororo (noodle that uses nagaimono or white yam that liquifies when grated) but it is phased out due to non-popularity or less orders received, so I decided to order Kitsune Soba instead. I ordered Fermented Bean Natto mixed with raw egg and eaten outright. There was a yellow wasabi as part of the condiment. It would look unappetizing unless you are Natto fan. Only brave customers can eat Natto mixed with raw egg. Parking lot is spacious and easily accessible along Arnaiz Avenue, near the foot of Skyway. The ambience is great. You may choose to dine-in in the central public table, or choose any VIP Room that is airconditioned and can open or close the sliding door. In the VIP Room, you can easily watch your car being parked outside thru the mirror. In addition, there is a call button in the window that serves as a doorbell for the service crew to approached you. Aside from public or VIP Room, you may opt to eat in the front of food service area. Japanese alcoholic beverages are available, but I am non-alcoholic person. Food is a little bit pricey which includes 10% service charge. Toilet is wide, but the standing men's urinal area stains slightly yellowish. I would rate 3/5 for cleanliness but the dining area is 5/5. Tried Uni Sushi or Sushi with Sea Urchin.

Nihonbashitei presents itself as a typical casual Japanese dining spot in Manila. The overall food quality is decent, aligning with what one might expect from such an establishment. However, my recent visit left much to be desired. I ordered the special chirashi, expecting a vibrant and generous assortment of fresh fish, but was instead served the standard chirashi. Despite pointing out the error, the staff insisted there was no difference between the two, leading to a disappointing experience both in terms of portion size and quality. For those considering Nihonbashitei, I'd recommend sticking with the hot dishes as the sushi, particularly the chirashi, failed to meet expectations. See the picture and judge for yourself. Service was mediocre; our large group of 15 did experience some missed orders, but given the group size, it wasn't a dealbreaker. More pressing was the dining environment itself — the room was uncomfortably hot and humid, exacerbated by an old and noisy air conditioner. In conclusion, while Nihonbashitei might suffice for those seeking basic Japanese dishes in a casual setting, it falls short in delivering a satisfying experience for those in pursuit of high-quality sushi or a comfortable dining atmosphere.

Nihombashitei Japanese Restaurant – Food Review Ambience: • Traditional Japanese setup with an open counter seating arrangement. • Private rooms are also available for a more intimate dining experience. Food Highlights: • Katsu Curry The curry sauce was flavorful and well-seasoned. However, the pork cutlet was slightly dry and a bit tough to chew. • Tsukemen The noodles were soft and easy to chew, perfect for dipping. The broth had a subtle spiciness that added depth without overpowering the dish. The pork slices were tender and complemented the soup well. • Tori Karaage Impressively crunchy on the outside while remaining moist and juicy inside—a well-executed classic. Set Inclusions: • Lunch sets include free miso soup and a choice of iced coffee or iced lemon tea. • Complimentary hot or iced Japanese tea is also served upon request. Overall: A satisfying Japanese dining experience with good variety, generous portions, and authentic flavors. A few minor improvements on texture (like the katsu) would elevate the experience further.

Very thankful that this place closes late. Like around 2am. We wanted to have some private time with a small group of friends but it was after a seminar that ended at 10pm. Someone suggested this place so we went.

First impression - gosh, the parking is full! It's a popular place for night owls. We were forced to park at the Creekside on Amorsolo which was a five to eight minutes walk away. We thought it would be good after our late meal, to have a short walk back to our car to digest.

Next - upon entering, I could feel the busy-ness of the place. Many tables were taken. It's not a fancy place, a bit run down, but you can scratch off to the number of people who dine there. I noticed that they had several private rooms, which were windowed, so that if you are in a group, you can enjoy some privacy but still see the people in the main dining area.

Our group chose a room. The very last one at the end. It had plushy upholstered (but a little tacky-looking) mustard chairs with high backs. It has its own AC. the little room was incredibly hot when we entered and it took awhile for it to cool up but it did.

I ordered the Kakiage (Vegetable) Tempura which was perfect and tasted the Takoyaki balls which were a bit overcooked. I preferred the cheap Takoyaki balls that I buy in the malls 😂😂😂. But even if they seemed overcooked, I ate two and enjoyed them anyway.

My husband ordered Gyoza and they were OK.

I used to avoid this restaurant because I thought that it would be a very expensive one but turns out the place is not cheap but also not overpriced. Slightly lang 😂😂😂

I'll be...

Okay. One of most controversial places I know, there fore i will break this review in strictly what I find good and bad about this place. Read and decide for your self.

GOOD:

  1. Works until late, you can have food even after 00:00 which is great
  2. Not really expensive for restaurant food, if you know what to order its especially true
  3. BEST: If you visit when they just bought a fresh fish, OMG take SUSHI with out a question. Very very tasty
  4. Have pretty much for every possible wish for a meal. If you hungry go there and you definitely will find something for you. Versatile in other words.
  5. Have a smoking room

BAD:

  1. Customer service, I think personal is trained to ignore you. I was loyal patron of this place for quite some time and still, some times i can seem for 15 minutes with my hand up, and waitresses want notice because they putting there eyes down as soon as they finish talking with each other or customer. Its like really bad one of worst in my experience. Ludacrisly bad.
  2. If its not a day of fresh fish, food at best is mediocre and docent really taste that good.
  3. Majority of menu is deep fried to a level that only thing you can taste is a oil. Yak yak discussing

Well thats my main points, read it and decide what to think is it...
