Very thankful that this place closes late. Like around 2am. We wanted to have some private time with a small group of friends but it was after a seminar that ended at 10pm. Someone suggested this place so we went.
First impression - gosh, the parking is full! It's a popular place for night owls. We were forced to park at the Creekside on Amorsolo which was a five to eight minutes walk away. We thought it would be good after our late meal, to have a short walk back to our car to digest.
Next - upon entering, I could feel the busy-ness of the place. Many tables were taken. It's not a fancy place, a bit run down, but you can scratch off to the number of people who dine there. I noticed that they had several private rooms, which were windowed, so that if you are in a group, you can enjoy some privacy but still see the people in the main dining area.
Our group chose a room. The very last one at the end. It had plushy upholstered (but a little tacky-looking) mustard chairs with high backs. It has its own AC. the little room was incredibly hot when we entered and it took awhile for it to cool up but it did.
I ordered the Kakiage (Vegetable) Tempura which was perfect and tasted the Takoyaki balls which were a bit overcooked. I preferred the cheap Takoyaki balls that I buy in the malls 😂😂😂. But even if they seemed overcooked, I ate two and enjoyed them anyway.
My husband ordered Gyoza and they were OK.
I used to avoid this restaurant because I thought that it would be a very expensive one but turns out the place is not cheap but also not overpriced. Slightly lang 😂😂😂
I'll be...
Read moreNihonbashi-tei is a middle class restaurant where you can find authentic Japanese meal, whether ala carte or bento.
I was looking for rare authentic soda/udon such as tororo (noodle that uses nagaimono or white yam that liquifies when grated) but it is phased out due to non-popularity or less orders received, so I decided to order Kitsune Soba instead.
I ordered Fermented Bean Natto mixed with raw egg and eaten outright. There was a yellow wasabi as part of the condiment. It would look unappetizing unless you are Natto fan.
Only brave customers can eat Natto mixed with raw egg.
Parking lot is spacious and easily accessible along Arnaiz Avenue, near the foot of Skyway.
The ambience is great. You may choose to dine-in in the central public table, or choose any VIP Room that is airconditioned and can open or close the sliding door.
In the VIP Room, you can easily watch your car being parked outside thru the mirror. In addition, there is a call button in the window that serves as a doorbell for the service crew to approached you.
Aside from public or VIP Room, you may opt to eat in the front of food service area.
Japanese alcoholic beverages are available, but I am non-alcoholic person.
Food is a little bit pricey which includes 10% service charge.
Toilet is wide, but the standing men's urinal area stains slightly yellowish. I would rate 3/5 for cleanliness but the dining area is 5/5.
