This bar very much caters towards tourists, especially from the Commonwealth countries. It has an extensive food menu with Western and local food selections, along with a cheap Sunday roast buffet.
The prices for food and drink are reasonable for the area, but if you look around, you can find a little bit cheaper, but other bars in the area are usually more expensive.
Ging, the manager is great. She has eyes in the back of her head - she is one of the most on the ball managers I have seen. Hopefully the owners compensate her very well for her work. She knows what all of her staff are doing at all times, and knows when a customer needs a drink. She is has a great personality, and very easy going, but at the same time, I doubt she is someone that you would want to have as an enemy.
Aileen, one of the bar staff has a great personality, she too is quite funny and personable.
Prices for food and beer: San Miguel starts at 120p Food starts at 200-300 for basic, small portions. Happy hour is 85p for SM, and finishes at 7pm. Not sure what time it starts.
One dish I had was fish and chips, and it was terrible for fish and chips. Maybe that's the norm in Philippines, or I'm used to British fish and chips, but the batter was bland and the fish didn't really taste or look like fish. It was also bland. The "fish", looked like it was reconstituted fish paste, rather than pure fish steak.
I had other food and that was much better. The quesadilla was good. The Filipino pork dishes were good.
On the side salads, they put this disgusting pink cream over it. Probably a salad cream. Just put a little bit of it in a separate pot, or a bit on the plate.
It's a very safe and friendly bar for tourists in Manila or Metro Manila.
Credit card is accepted, but 300p minimum. Do a tab, and you will get...
Read moreAbout six months ago I somehow squeezed out of the sardine can that is the Red Planet hotel and went next door to Shooters. I was was warmly greeted and had a great breakfast. After changing hotels many times I still come back to shooters often with my partner, she loves the pool tables and the friendly vibes and is a fan of Magners cider, its not on tap but at least it is Magners. I found the G&Ts acceptable (not Run Rabbit Run good but at least cold and decent tonic) and bourbon and coke is the same anywhere. Nachos are geat value for 2, Lasagne is pretty good, the tomahawk steak isn't great meat but is still great value for Philippines steak. Sport on all the TVs, great to watch live AFL games,. The band - well soloist that sometimes plays on fri/sat nights plays familiar songs (well, to a 50yo me) and the bar is good fun esp if there is a sports team staying in the Red Planet, I was just dissapoionted it was Kiwi and Fijian rugby players and not the Swedish female beach volley ball team. Fully recommended for a quiet game of pool and drink, or to catch up on TV sport. Friday nights and special occasions like Valentines/Halloween are a little more pumped up. I have a good time there...
Read moreShooters occupies a great position directly next to Red Planet hotel, firstly I would like to say staff are very nice particularly Aurora and the manager GiGi, but please guys deal with food issues. On my last visit about 4 days ago, I was served rancid eggs as part of continental breakfast, they agreed to replace eggs but not refund even though I couldn't eat through lack of appetite due to smell, I gave them a second chance on my last night in Manila, ordered Spaggbol, how can you get that wrong? Well they did, the spaghetti sauce was tasteless and the spaghetti was under cooked, after a few mouthfuls I left it and complained, luckily I spoke with GiGi and she did not charge me for the meal: these are just a few examples of many problems my friend and I have experienced in shooters this trip, sad because staff are lovely, but owners! get a grip and sort your restaurant out, it will kill...
