Over the years, been to Kuya J's various branches, Fishermall, Luchy china, here in San Lazaro, etc. Now back here for the 100 peso halo halo promo. We already had lunch at the ground floor. My fave in Kuya Js is the scallops, among other well loved Pinoy dishes. I remember the last time we came here we had a fair experience with regards to their customer service but it seems to go downhill since then, just see other reviews. My experience today- they're lacking in magiliw attitude of other branches. No greetings and daan daanan ka lang. Cold attitude, not warm hospitality which is de rigueur in Pinoy restos. Also look at that glass with a greasy lip mark. Complained and it was not taken away to the dishwasher, just swapped with the next table. There also is no table napkins at all. Asked for another spoon and it was not even wrapped in tissue. Anyway my companions liked the Halo Halo, it's big, but for me there is something in the taste that makes me personally not like it. There are other patrons who came here specifically for the promo. Come bill out time, we were informed to wait a while, the machine is down. We said it is but simple, only 2 halo halo. What bugs me is we were charged back to regular price, 270! When we said isn't it on promo, ay oo nga, and was billed right this time. Anyway the other promo of 1000 to 500 set meal good for 3 is not offered in this branch.

Kuya Jay is a popular Filipino restaurant known for its flavorful and comforting dishes, and their Crispy Pata is one of the standout items on the menu. The Crispy Pata at Kuya Jay is highly praised for its crispy, golden skin that delivers a satisfying crunch. The meat inside is tender and juicy, offering a perfect balance between crispy exterior and soft, flavorful pork. It’s often served with a soy-vinegar dipping sauce that enhances the overall taste and adds an extra layer of flavor. The portion is generous, making it a great choice for sharing with family or friends. Overall, the Crispy Pata at Kuya Jay is a crowd-pleaser, with consistent quality and a delicious, hearty flavor that captures the essence of this beloved Filipino dish. The casual, welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant adds to the overall dining experience, making it a solid choice for anyone craving a classic Filipino meal.

There was a family that arrived a few 10 minutes or so after us but they got their food first. We had to ask for a follow up to get our food on time. We ordered 2 solo meals and an appetizer and ginataang gulay. The solo meals arrived before the appetizer (the croquettas) and it defeated the point of an appetizer. The solo meals had fried vegetables like a tempura with it and it tasted overcooked. The ginataang gulay arrived 10 minutes after everything else and we think that maybe they rushed it because they may have forgot because the vegetables were mostly undercooked. We really got overcooked and undercooked at the same time huhu The Bangus Ala Pobre and the Liempo was good but that was it. Overall we didn’t enjoy our experience especially with how much we spent on it.

Very poor service. We waited for almost 2 hours and another 30 mins for the food to be served only to be treated so bad. After waiting for a long time, the crew still chose to prepare the table of the customers who went in after us just because they are well dressed?? I needed to ask another crew to bring us some plates and utensils. One of the plates has a small cockroach (alive) so I asked for a replacement. The food was taking too long and i have kids and senior citizens with me, i asked for some water so we can at least drink while waiting for the food. He gave us a small pitcher of water, imagine we were 8 in that table and they only gave a small pitcher of a "service water"! I needed to ask again for another pitcher. What a poor service it was 🤬

Food was served at long last! We asked for some tissue and the waiter just put it on top of the table and its not even placed in a tissue holder! I asked for the side dishes and they told us to wait, I ordered another dish which is pancit canton and we were told it will take 15mins and i said it's ok. We're done eating and I already asked for the bill then they suddenly served the side dishes hahahaha. The halo halo and pancit canton never came so i just told them to cancel it. What a very poor service, terrible experience dining in that place! Not recommended. I will not recommend it to anyone I know 🤣

Just to add, this payat na baklang crew was so rude. I have nothing against gays, i have a lot of gay friends actually. But this gay was way too rude. The manager needs to train them when it comes to providing a good customer service! Kudos to ate girl, she's the only one who apologized regarding the service that...

It was our first time in the restaurant, and we're originally not from the area as we are just visiting family members in the Philippines. We arrived around 8:18 PM or so and we were welcome by host/server, Rose. Everything was going nicely with our order taken at the front, and staff were cleaning up the tables for us and getting everything ready. Around 8:40 PM, the food arrived and everything was excellent. All 7 of us started to dig in, and everything was going smooth until a team member (male individual with short hair, comb over style) started banging plates on the tables as he was trying to clean everything and close up shop around 8:50 PM. To be quite honest, since we're not from the area, we did not know what time the restaurant closed, and we thought that closing time was around 10 PM. If we have known that the establishment closed or started to close around 9 PM, then we wouldn't had gone and dined in and instead looked for an alternative. As for the aforementioned male individual who seemed agitated, frustrated and scaring customers and co-workers alike, we were unsure what his issue or problem was. 7 of us agreed to write this review and let locals and travelers know to stay away from this establishment as our experience was horrible due to this singular individual who made us feel unsafe while eating. The only positive comment that I'd like to leave however is Rose, our server/host, was...
