A hidden and air conditioned gem at the heart of Binondo (Beside Lord Stow's). If you want to have the same food as Cafe Mezzanine, or Chuan Kee (but not all in the menu) AND most importantly, SKIP THE LONG QUEUE, then this is the place to be.

Also owned by the same owner of the above mentioned cafes and eng bee tin, you can enjoy the same good food, delivacies, and be seated comfortably in Mr. Ube.

They are famous for their ube pao, but don't expect it would be ube flavoured too. It's just the coloring of the bun. But the ube colored pork siopao also tastes good.

Place- looks crowded outside but it has a lot of seating capacity inside. Well airconditioned, cushioned chairs. A recommended place to eat especially if you have a company of senior citizens with you.

Staff- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ very accommodating and friendly.

Service- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ they served the dishes in less than 20 mins.

Food we also ordered: Lava Pao- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ sweet flavored salted egg in custard texture is so good that 1 pc isn't enough, so sure to order 2 servings since 1 you deserve more than 1. 1 serving has 3 pcs on it.

mr. Ube special pancit- ⭐️⭐️⭐️ simple pancit that is good actually, packed with flavour and pieces of meat, good for 2-3 persons.

Pork XLB- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ another fave, although 1 serving is only 5 pcs, fewer than the usual serving they offer in Cafe Mezzanine, fewer broth too. But still, it tastes good and it's worth the price.

Korean beef noodles- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ not spicy. broth is packed with flavour and served with generous portions of meat, has firm noodles, and heavy meatballs. Yum!

Kikiam-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ also flavourful esp when dipped with the sauce. It's a single portion cut into bite sizes but can be shared for 3-4 persons. We couldn't finish this one bec it was already heavy in itself.

Green tea and milk tea- ⭐️⭐️⭐️very sweet yet also good but for the price, it was kind of expensive. 75 pesos per 250 mL bottle. It was heavy too, so what we did was that we asked for a glass of ice to dilute it and shared a bottle bec it was a tad sweet for our taste.

No pics since we were...

They do the housekeeping during peak hours. Place is so cramp, staff has to ask customer to stand up just to take empty cartons from the bodega. These should be done during closing time. Their Tom Yum noodle does not taste Tom Yum but slightly sour oily soup. Shrimps are not fully peeled and not fresh. The tanglad (lemongrass) are pieces of thin stick. Manager us not around during peak hours where his supervision is very much needed. But employees are courteous. Waiters are accommodating but they are understaff. For a cramp space a busing trolley seems obstructing rather than making...

Sadly the Lava Pao custard was not available. I got the chocolate one which was good. If you tear it in the middle, the filling bursts out. It's messy but good.

The fish congee was good. I got it since I'm not feeling well and I got a runny nose. I feel my nose clearing while I eat. It has both crispy fish cake and fish pieces.

The wintermelon tea I got tastes exactly like the tiny juice in the red santan flower if you pull out the middle.

The service was sloooow and I saw a table served first before I got to, and I was 15 min earlier than them. The CR...

Located on a busy street. First impression when I entered was "this is small and very crowded" but then I realized there is a whole area at the back. Decided to order and was surprised how everything taste great. Their siomai was to die for (wish there were more in serving) and pansit was really good. Just when leaving I realised there is also an upper floor 😅. For sure this is the place which ill revisit at some point. To add meal was served fast and considering how many people where there it is for sure a thing to appreciate. Recommended.

Lechon and Xiao Long Bao was good. However, Salted egg was bland. Customer service also wasn’t good especially as it was a rush hour. This was in Binondo branch - Ong Pin. I ordered Lava Pao and although I mentioned Choco they gave me Custard and reasoned out that I just said Lava Pao alone. If I did, in fact, just said Lava Pao, it would have been a great initiative by the staff to ask if I wanted custard or choco given that there are two options. She just said that custard was the “standard” for Lava Pao.

Sister establishment of Chuan Kee and Eng Bee Tin, this fastfood restaurant also has golden lava buchi on its menu. The soft pillowy mochi dessert (with crunchy exterior) had a velvety custard center that was not too sweet. Their lechon macau rice came with a lonely stem of bokchoy, a piece of buchi, and small glass of iced tea. The pork belly dish was consistently underwhelming (same review for Chuan Lee’s lechon kawali). Servers were very hospitable. Place can get crowded during mealtimes.
