This malatang place is stocked full of options for every diet- vegetables, mushrooms, fishballs, meats. The quality of ingredients is something to speak of as well. Fresh raw vegsnand meats, wonderfully cooked chashu and high quality tofus. Soup base options are plenty as well, I chose the laksa after a bout of Singaporean cravings. I recommend laksa enjoyers to add a few pieces of australian mussels, infusing a wonderful ocean note on top of the already tropical coconut-based soup.
The variety of options along with the quality they make available to you prove that they're on top of the casual dining malatang business. I'll consider coming here again to try more of their flavors, especially tom yum.
Where they fall short: kitchen organization. The spice levels of our soup have been switched up, necessitating a quick but tedious chili oil transfer.
Nevertheless, their level 1 mild spice is just perfect, a bit of spice without burning the tongue. Equally budget-minded people should take note to avoid heavier foods like fishballs and swap them for lighter but more...
Read moreMalatang place inside Robinsons Manila. The concept is you pick from the various ingredients in the chillers, then you pay according to the weight of what you got. They have vegetables, mushrooms, various balls, noodles, meat, and seafood. Then they cook it in your choice of soup (or even stir-fried dry), and even choose your spice level (Malatang Level 5 is still tolerable for me). The bowl is really huge so I think 2 people can share in one bowl. I spent around 700++ for my bowl. If ever you don't finish all your broth, you can still take it to-go and they put it in a tupperware free of charge. Flavor wise, I liked the Laksa broth, just put a lot of seafood on your bowl because it still lacked flavor for me. The ingredients especially the vegetables are really fresh. I also liked the quality of the balls, special mention to the meatballs and cheeseballs. I truly enjoyed my meal here, but the next time I come back, I won't eat an entire...
Read moreThis place can be highway robbery if you do not know how to order as the servers will not exactly guide you how to prepare your food; you really have to rely on the instructions posted on the wall and make use of the large, deep bowls so your tendency is to dump everything in with the thought that you are paying ₱1.30 per gram. But a gram can increase to 100 to 1000 so imagine the shock on your face once your bowl is weighed and you are charged with an amount that can feed a whole barangay Christmas party!
First, choose your ingredients wisely; do not over stuff your bowl no matter how tempting it is. Next, please remember that a bow can be shared by 2 people. Not unless very hungry then get solo bowls.
The ingredients are fresh and varied. The soups (I got the Szechuan style -original) are plenty and they give free rice if you want a bowl. Nevertheless tale extra precaution in dealing with your soup or literally...
